Teaching aids:
Cut out’ and color masks of Lulu Leopard and Danny Deer (pages 161and 162)
You will also need: teacher of four character masks (from Unit1).
Teaching Procedure:
- Sing a song about the names.
- Free talk:
Hi. good morning. My name is ___.What’s your name? Then ask a student answer the questions.
- Introduce new characters
Hold up your mask for Lulu. Say,“ This is Lulu.”
Have the children say Lulu. Repeat this for Danny.
Repeat several times. and have the children say the names.
- Model the dialog
Hold up your mask Mocky and say. “This is Mocky.” Have the children repeat the sentence after you.
Repeat the procedure for all the other masks (Ann. Ken. Mocky. UncleBooky. Lulu. and Danny).
Help up each of the masks in turn. and say. “This is (Lulu)”.
Hold up the Mocky mask. Say. “This isn’t Ken. This is Mocky.” Say the sentences again. and have the children repeat them.
Repeat the same procedure. using the Ann mask. and substituting another name. Repeat the procedure using the remaining masks.
Hold up a mask but say nothing. Have the children make a sentence of their own.
- Talk about the story
Say to the children. “Open your books.”Show them what to do.
Repeat the command and have the children open their books at pages 14 and 15.Ask these questions about the pictures:
Picture 1:“Who can you see in the picture?”
“What are they doing?”
“What do you think they are talking about?”
Picture3:“What are Ann, Ken and Mocky doing?”
Picture4\5:“Who do they meet?”
Picture6\7:“Do they like him?”
Picture8:“Who does Mocky see”
Picture9:“How does Mocky feel?”
Picture10:“Has Mocky made a mistake?”
Picture11:“What is happening to Mocky?”
6. Set homework
Explain that you want the class to tell their families about the new characters, Danny and Lulu.
