   Four Ways to Keep Your New Year’s Resolution

   Every year after I’ve eaten too much chocolate and heard too much New Year’s music. I start to think about the coming year. I’m very good at making New Year’s resolutions, but not good at keeping them. After having failed do many times, I start to find out why! So here are my top four tips for keeping the New Year’s resolutions.

        Be realistic

One year my New Year’s resolution was to read a book in a week. Well, you can imagine how that worked out! Unrealistic expectations can often make us feel like we’ve failed, but really we’ve just made the goal too high. Sure---dream big, but take it little by little to get there.

        Make it something you really want

I’m making a decision and I feel like I should do something, but my dad always says, “There’s no need about it.” Don’t make a resolution that you should want or that other people tell you to want. It has to be from you.

        Talk about it

Tell a friend or share it on Facebook. Don’t keep your resolution a secret. It will not only encourage you, but it will also encourage others.

        Don’t be too hard on yourself

There will always be days when you forget or when you’re too busy. Don’t worry about it. It happens to everyone! We should take small but effective steps to improve our lives.
