Can you think of a day without music? We can hear music everywhere: in the streets and at home, over the radio and on TV, in the shops and in the parks. People all over the world are fond of music. They listen to music, they dance to music, and they learn to play musical instruments.
Music isn't only a combination of pleasant sounds. It is an art which reflects life. There are lots of different kinds of music. Some of them appeared long ago, and some are modern. Folk music appeared long ago, but it is still alive. Folk songs are very pleasant to listen to. Classical music is often associated with the music of the past. Rap is a modern musical style where the singer speaks or shouts the words in time to music with a steady beat.
Great Britain has produced more popular music stars than any other country. British groups often set new trends in music. New styles, groups and singers continue to appear. Many of the new bands have been able to use changes in technology to develop their music such as computerised drum machines, synthesisers and other electronic instruments.
Tastes differ. So people's musical interests range from pop and rock music to classical music and opera. My favourite style of music is pop music, because it is full of energy. When I listen to pop music it makes me remember happy times and forget the problems of everyday life. I also enjoy listening to classical music. The music I hate is heavy metal—I find it noisy. When I listen to this style of music it presents pictures of dark days to my mind. My mother and father agree with my tastes in music. Though they prefer to listen to classical music, they think that modern music is not too bad.
Music appeals to our hearts. It comforts our souls and enriches our minds. Music is beauty in sounds; it is our magic source of inspiration.
4.What is the first paragraph mainly about?
A.Several types of music.
B.Different musical tastes.
C.The development of musical styles.
D.The importance of music in our lives.
5.How is the second paragraph developed?
A.By giving examples. B.By analysing reasons.
C.By describing courses. D.By making comparisons.
6.Why does the author like pop music?
A.It is played with electronic instruments.
B.It is characterised by a steady beat.
C.It is loud and strong.
D.It sounds energetic.
7.What is the author's parents' attitude towards his musical tastes?
A.Doubtful. B.Supportive. C.Dissatisfied. D.Unconcerned.

Giacomo Puccini was born in 1858 and was a son of a musical director. 1 He is remembered as a master of opera.
2 Many early forerunners(先驱)of Impressionist Music including Rimsky-Korsakov, Strauss, Schoenberg and Stravinsky, inspired him greatly.
Turandot, an opera based on an Italian drama by the same name, is by far considered to be one of Puccini's most popular and most performed works. It's a pity that Puccini had no chance to watch his own great opera himself. 3
In this opera you can hear a traditional Chinese folk song, which is titled Molihua or Jasmine Flower. 4 Among them the version sung in Jiangsu, a province in the south of China, is the most popular one. By admiring the jasmine flower, the song celebrates the sweetness and beauty of romantic love. 5 In 1804 the song was published in a book by a British diplomat, making it the first Chinese folk song that gained popularity outside China.
A.Turandot is performed regularly all over the world.
B.At the end of the 18th century, it was first translated into English.
C.It's believed that Puccini's operas are strong in emotion and conflict.
D.The opera was first performed in 1926, two years after Puccini's death.
E.During his music career, Puccini was also influenced by other musicians.
F.Though Puccini received training in various areas of music, his true love was in opera.
G.There are many different versions of Molihua or Jasmine Flower in different parts of China.

Want to find out about a new band, or just want more information about an old favourite? Rave-on!
根据Show-in-a-day! Get your friends and family to come and see you perform, as no video or photography is allowed.
故选A。

Try our Professional Selection, with video clips of band members who will explain the techniques that make their recordings so extraordinary! 分析 本句中who引导定语从句,修饰先行词band members;that make their recordings so extraordinary是that引导的定语从句,修饰先行词techniques。

There are lots of different kinds of music. Some of them appeared long ago, and some are modern. 故选A。
My favourite style of music is pop music, because it is full of energy. Rap is a modern musical style where the singer speaks or shouts the words in time to music with a steady beat.
My mother and father agree with my tastes in music. Though they prefer to listen to classical music, they think that modern music is not too bad.

Rap is a modern musical style where the singer speaks or shouts the words in time to music with a steady beat.
Giacomo Puccini was born in 1858 and was a son of a musical director. He is remembered as a master of opera.
It's a pity that Puccini had no chance to watch his own great opera himself.
In this opera you can hear a traditional Chinese folk song, which is titled Molihua or Jasmine Flower. Among them the version sung in Jiangsu, a province in the south of China, is the most popular one.
【高频词汇】 1.director n.(合唱团的)指挥;导演 2.be considered to be...
|
原句 In 1804 the song was published in a book by a British diplomat, making it the first Chinese folk song that gained popularity outside China. 分析 本句中making it the first Chinese folk song... |
