The news reprter said, ‘Dr. King died just 10 minutes ag’. My parents were cmpletely shcked! My parents did nt talk after that, and we finished the rest f ur dinner in silence.”

    1. 概念: 表示过去某个时刻或过去一段时间正在进行的动作。2. 句子结构: 主语 + was/were + ding sth. + 时间状语3. 时间状语词: at 5:00 yesterday afternn, at that time, then 等连用, 或者用另一动作来表示过去的时间。如:
    Past cntinuus tense
    过去进行时着重描述当时正在持续进行的动作,它的特点是:暂时,持续和未完成,强调过程;一般过去时表示发生过的动作或存在的状态,即表示动作发生过,而且已经结束了,强调结果。
    过去进行时与一般过去时的区别

    wrte 表示动作已结束,做另一件事,如用was writing 就与 went t bed 在逻辑上相矛盾。
    过去进行时侧重表示动作延长的时间长度; 一般过去时表示过去某时发生过某事,侧重说明事实。

    区别:1. 由when引导的时间状语从句,主句用过 去进行时,从句应用一般过去时; 由while引导的时间状语从句,主句用一般过去时,从句应用过去进行时。When the teacher came in, we were talking. 当此句改变主从句的位置时,则为: While we were talking, the teacher came in.
    2. 如果从句和主句的动作同时发生,两句都用过去进行时的时候,多用while引导。如: They were singing while we were dancing.
