Step 1 Free talk

Have a free talk with the students. Talk about “Can we eat in class?”

Step 2 Presentation

Show Ss a picture of a woman teacher and some pictures of Ss who are breaking school rules. Are they good students? What rules are these students breaking?

Step 3 Match

Finish 1a. Write the number of the rule next to the student.

Step 4 Listening

Finish 1b.

First let Ss guess what rule Peter/ Amy/ Mike is breaking ?

1. Don’t arrive late for class.

2. Don’t run in the hallways.

3. Don’t eat in the classroom.

4. Don’t listen to music in the classrooms or the hallways.

5. Don’t fight.

What rules are Peter, Amy and Mike breaking?

Step 5 Presentation

Take out an apple. Have a talk with the students like this:

     T: Can I eat an apple in class now?

     Ss: No, you can’t.

     T: Can you eat apples in class now?

     Ss: No, we can’t.

Repeat it with a cigarette.

Step 6 Practice

Show Ss some pictures, then let Ss talk about them with “Can you/ we …?”

S1: Can we arrive late for class?

S2: No, we can’t. We can’t arrive late for class.

Let the students practice in pairs. Try to act it out in front of the class.

Step 8 Competition

Have a competition between boys and girls, let them say as many school rules as they can. Have a talk like this:

T: There are many school rules in our school. What rules are they? Can you name any of them?

S1:Don’t eat in class.

S2: We can’t fight. …

  Step 1.Revision.

Revise the new words.

1..T: Can we listen to music in class?

Ss: No, we can’t.

T: Can we use a dictionary in English class?

Ss: Yes,we can.

Sum up: can 为情态动词，“能，会”，没有人称和数的变化，后面直接加动词原形。一般问句将can提前，否定句在can后加not.

Note :the number of   

The number of students in our class is fifty-six.

1. Oral practice.

Get the students to ask and answer about the rules in 1a.

2. Listening 2a.Listen. Check (√) the activities Alan and Cindy talk about. First, let Ss read activities together. Then play the tape, let Ss check the actiities, play the tape again and check the answers.

3. 2b Listen again. Can Alan and Cindy do these activities? Circle can or can’t above.

4. Pairwork: Student A is Alan and Student B is Cindy. Talk about the rules in 2a. For example:

A: Can we listen to music,Cindy?

B: We can’t listen to music in the hallways, but we can listen to it outside.

Step 1.Revision.

Revise the rules of your school.

  Step 2.Presentation

1. T ask Ss “Do you have to wear a uniform at school?”and

“Does she have to stay at home?”Let Ss answer  “Yes, we do. / No,    we don’t.” “Yes, she does. / No, she doesn’t.”

  Note: have to, must 这两个词都是“必须”的意思。have to表示客观的需要， must表示说话人主观上的看法，即主观上的必要。

2. 2d  Role-play the conversation.Play the tape,let Ss listen to the tape and repeat it.Then act out it.

3. Grammar Focus

     1. Put students into pairs. Please talk about what you can or can’t do at your school using the information in the chart in 2a.

     2. Ask students to read the questions and answers in the grammar box in pairs.

  Step 3 Practice

1. 3a Write the rules for the school library.

1>. Fill in the blanks with the words in the box. Get students to

  do the activity on their own.

2.> Please work with a partner. Ask and answer questions about the rules at your school like the sample conversation.

 Make up five cool rules for your dream school. Share your rules with the class. Your classmates vote for the Cooolest School.

2.  Play the three short vedioes for the students，let Ss answer the questions:

(1).What are the people in the vedioes doing?

(2).Are they good students?

(3).What rules do they break?

Step 2.Presentation

1.Show some pictues to Ss

T: There are some house rules . First, look at the pictures, tell me

what you see in each picture, using whatever words you can.

Then let Ss look at the rules under the pictures and point out the list

of rules.Read each rule and ask students to repeat.

2.1a Read the rules in the chart in 1b.Then match the pictures[a--h]

with the rules.Let Ss match the pictues at first, then check the

answer.

 1b Listen and put an × for things Dave can’t do and a √ for things he has to do. First, let Ss read the rules together, then play the tape ,let Ss listen to it carefully, play the tape again,let Ss put it.

 1c Listen again.Write when Davehas to follow the rules in the chart in 1b. Choose from the phrases in the box.Let Ss read the phrases, play the tape,let Ss write it. Play the tape again, check the answer together.

2.Pairwork: Talk about the rules in Dave’s house.

A: Can Dave go out on school nights?

B: No, he can’t.

1. Do the exercises in the exercise books.

2. Write a short composition which is about the rules at their houses.

有些学生在做这题时可能有一些困难，根据具体情况可增加放录音的遍数。在完成听力题目之后，再利用课本中的内容来进行口头练习,同时也对前面学过的句型进行了复习。

从谈论学校的规则中引入到其他地方的规则，激发学生了解这些地方规则的兴趣，从而使他们在各个地方都是一个遵守纪律的好学生。在做练习之前先让学生发挥想象，用自己已经学过的知识去描绘一下几幅图片，不仅复习了先前学过的知识，锻炼了口头表达能力，还对课文的内容加深了印象与理解。

跟读是考虑到一些基础差的学生，帮助他们加深对题目的理解。

总结祈使句：祈使句：它的真正主语是you，但常省略，简短而有力，有命令`要求`请求的意味。常见的祈使句有五种形式：

1.Please listen to the teacher carefully.

2.Let’s go to the shop together.

3.Stand there.

4.Be quiet, please.

5.Don’t arrive late for school.

否定祈使句，常见句式有：

Don’t否定：适用于1。3。4。型祈使句，直接在句首（动词前）加Don’t,如Don’t eat in class.

No否定：这种否定形式多用于公众警示语，有“禁止”“规劝”

的意思，No后面是名词或形式。如：No photos.严禁拍照。No smoking!禁止吸烟。

Step 3.Practice

Let Ss finish it by themselves,then check the answer.

2. Activity 3b Complete the chart with the rules in your home and school. Put an x for the rules you think unfair. Let Ss talk about rules at first, then fill in the chart.

Step 4.Self Check

1. Self Check 1 Fill in the blanks with the words in the box. Let Ss read the words in the box , then fill in the blanks with the words,  last check the answers with the class.
2. Self Check 2 Use can, can’t, have to/ must and don’t to write about the rules at school.Write two sentences for each rule.
