One f the best-lved American writers was William Sydney Prter, r O. Henry. Frm 1893 he lived with his family in a huse in Austin, Texas, which is nw a museum. Visitrs t Austin can see the huse. It was saved frm destructin (破坏) and turned int a museum in1934. The museum is a gd way t learn abut the interesting life f the American writer.
William Prter rented this huse in Austin and lived there with his wife Athl and daughter Margaret fr abut tw years. Many bjects in the museum belnged t the Prters. Others did nt. Later William Prter was frced t leave Austin because he was charged with financial wrngding at the bank and lst his jb. Because he was afraid f a trail (审判), he left the cuntry secretly. But he returned because his wife was dying. After her death, he faced the trial and became a criminal. He served three and a half years in a prisn in Ohi.
William Prter wuld keep his time in prisn a secret. But there was ne gd thing abut it. It prvided him with time t write. By the time he was freed, he had published 14 stries and became well knwn as O. Henry.
