Nwadays six Amazn Scut delivery rbts are rlled ut in a pilt prgramme in Snhmish Cunty, Washingtn. The rbts carry meals, grceries and packages t hmes and ffices in this regin just nrth f Seattle. These services are gaining attractin as a grwing number f city residents expect immediate r scheduled delivery f just abut everything. Between 2017 and 2018 nline retail sales in the US increased by 16 per cent. In the final step f all these deliveries, called the last mile, humans n bicycles, mtr scters (小型摩托车) r large delivery trucks typically deliver packages. All the vehicles cmpete fr space n busy urban streets. “There is an upward trend in deliveries in all crwded city centres, and if city and state leaders dn’t start thinking abut creative slutins like rbt deliveries, we can expect even wrse traffic jams,” says Paul Mackie, frmer directr f a research centre fr transprtatin plicy in Arlingtn.

A delivery rbt can cst thusands f dllars t manufacture, and mst currently require human management and cnservatin. But in the lng run cmpanies that use autnmus delivery vehicles in the next several years culd end up saving billins f dllars, the reprt stated.
