The blues has deep rts in American histry, particularly African­American histry．The blues began in Suthern plantatins(大农场) in the 19th century．Its inventrs were slaves, ex­slaves and the children f slaves—African­American sharecrppers(佃农) wh sang as they wrked in the cttn and vegetable fields．
The blues grew up in the Mississippi Delta just upriver frm New Orleans, the birthplace f jazz．Blues and jazz have always influenced each ther, and they still influence each ther in many ways tday．Unlike jazz, the blues didn’t spread ut quickly frm the Suth t the Midwest until the 1930s and 1940s．When the Delta blues made their way up the Mississippi t urban areas, the music develped int electrified Chicag blues, ther reginal blues styles, and varius jazz­blues hybrids．Abut ten years later, the blues gave birth t rhythms(节奏) ‘n’ blues and rck ‘n’ rll．

It caused a great excitement and curisity. They were dying t knw what the unexpected thing culd be.
