The mammal yaks can live in the highest plateau, mainly in the Himalayas and Tibetan Plateau. Yaks, usually dark brwn r black in clr, have very lng and thick fur cvered all their bdies. Their limbs are shrt but strng. All these characteristics make yaks can live in the area f 3000-5000 metres abve sea level and 30-40 degrees belwzer. Nearly 85% f yaksin the wrld are living in China.
Diversifrm-leaved pplar trees (胡杨林) mainly grw in 20 cuntries, including Mnglia and sme n the Mediterranean. Xinjiang grws 91 percent f diversifrm-leaved pplar trees in China. The trees are estimated t have a histry f three millin years, accrding t its fssils fund in 1935 in Xinjiang and neighbring Gansu prvince.
Hwever, During the 1960-1970 perid, large areas f diversifrm-leaved pplar trees were felled (砍伐树木) in sme areas in Xinjiang t make rm fr farming, greatly deterirating the lcal eclgical envirnment with desert incursin int ases (绿洲). Frest and muntain areas in the eastern part f Jilin have lng been the habitat fr Siberian tigers, and a mnitring center has been established cvering 500 square meters t keep track f the animals.
