    Passage 1
    Putting mre green space arund a schl may help students develp sme mental abilities, a study suggests. Researchers tested students repeatedly ver the curse f a year n attentiveness (专注力)and wrking memry, which is the ability t keep smething in mind temprarily fr perfrming a task. On the whle, students whse schls were surrunded by mre green space imprved mre than pupils frm schls with less green space.
    The study tracked mre than 2,000 students in 36 primary schls in Barcelna, Spain. The pupils were in the secnd t furth grades when the study began. Green space may help mental develpment by reducing air pllutin frm vehicles, accrding t an article by the researchers that included pllutin data frm the schls. It may als help by reducing nise and encuraging physical activity, researchers said.
    Plicy makers shuld knw that “mre green arund the schl is better fr cgnitive develpment and that they shuld make sure that kids can see and play in green areas,” ne authr Mark Nieuwenhuijsen said. “Existing urban schls shuld think abut replacing cncrete r ther hard surfaces with green space,” he suggested, “and even a few trees may help.”
    The researchers used satellite images t grup schls accrding t hw much green space appeared n the schl grunds and within abut 55 yards f the schl prperty. Their analysis shwed that differences in sci-ecnmic factrs between schls did nt accunt fr the study utcme.
    Sally Augustin, a psychlgist, said the results made sense t her. She said the results fit with previus findings that views f nature help children and adults lwer stress and perfrm mental tasks better.
