Task
一、教学目标
1. 掌握本课的重点词汇:form, address, chairperson, introduce, natural
2. 掌握本课的重点句型:
I would like to join the Birdwatching Society.
I will be very happy if I can become a member of the Birdwatching Society.
3. 能够分析文章的结构,了解申请表的填写方法。
4. 能够填写申请表并写出申请信。
5. 在单元结束时,能够自主评价学习成果,反思自己的不足,并加以改进。

三、教学过程
Step 1 Warming-up
Show some pictures of birds and get Ss to talk about birds’ situation and think about how to protect the birds.
【设计意图】通过图片帮助学生感受鸟的美丽与神奇,再出示他们处于濒危的问题,形成鲜明的对比,触动学生的心灵。
Step 2 Pre-writing
- Show the organization and introduce Hong Kong Birdwatching Society (HKBWS).
- Get Ss to think about how to join the birdwatching societies if they want to join them.
【设计意图】通过展示观鸟协会的图片和对香港观鸟会的介绍,激发学生的学习兴趣;同时为后面的写作做准备。
- Get Ss to complete the application form with their own information.
【设计意图】通过让学生填写自己的信息,帮助学生真实实践,也为后边的写作做好铺垫。
- Get Ss to read Amy’s application letter quickly and answer the questions.
- Get Ss to help Amy complete the application form.
【设计意图】通过帮助学生感知申请表的使用,结合Amy的例子真实体验。
4. Help Ss to focus on the organization. Then summarize the main idea for each part. Finally, give them some useful expressions.
【设计意图】通过对教材范文的细节分析,引导学生在写作中选好要点,培养读者意识,达到有效写作之目的。
Step 3 While-writing
Get Ss to write their own letters to join in the Birdwatching Society.
【设计意图】继续依托香港观鸟会这一真实语境,要求学生使用目标语言并当堂进行英语写作,提升核心素养。
Step 4 Post-writing
Get Ss to share in group first, then in the whole class.
【设计意图】小组内分享习作有助于学生提升写作水平,在小组范围内,学生相对比较放松,也更加专注。全班分享为大家提供学习资源,达到共享学习资源的目的。
Step 5 Summary
Guide Ss to summarize what they’ve learnt.
【设计意图】帮助学生总结课堂所学,巩固所学,培养总结的好习惯。
Step 6 Homework
1. Polish their application letters.
2. Finish exercises in their workbook.
【设计意图】通过课后润色自己的写作,帮助学生形成良好的写作习惯,完成相关练习,引导学生关注对单元内容的梳理和提升。
