设计说明 首先通过谈论班长是什么样的人导入新课,然后具体谈论David具有什么性格特征,具体用什么例子可以支撑自己的观点。由此完成课本上的短文填空,然后讨论如何写一封推荐信,再根据要求写自己的推荐信。最后进行知识讲解和巩固练习。 教学目标 通过本课时的教学,让学生达成以下目标: 1.知识目标 掌握单词和短语:speech,absent, monitor, position, agree with sb.。 2.能力目标 掌握推荐信的写法。 3.情感目标 了解自己的性格和品质,敢于自我推荐。 重点难点 重点:本课节的词和短语;学会写推荐信。 难点:写推荐信。 教学准备 PPT 课件;相关图片。 授课时数 1课时 教学过程 Step 1 Lead-in 1. Talk about students’ animal signs and their personalities. A: When were you born? B: I was born in… A: What’s your animal sign? B: My animal sign is… 2. Lead in the words and the phrases and make a speech by showing a picture. Step 2 Presentation 1. Ask: What is your monitor like? Talk about what kind of personalities a monitor should have. 2. Read through the spidergram in A and talk about the monitor David. What is David like? How can you prove that? /Why do you say he is…? He is confident because (1) he thinks he can do anything if he tries his best. (2) he is not afraid of making a speech in front of many people. He is helpful because (1) he often helps other students. (2) he will help us with our lessons if we are absent from school. He is hard-working because (1) he always does extra work after class. (2) he spends a lot of time helping with our class projects. He is clever because (1) he always comes up with good ideas. (2) he has won several science competitions. He is organized because (1) he never forgets the things he needs to do. (2) he has learnt to use the computer to get himself more organized. Step 3 Practice 1. Ask the students to complete the letter to Mr Wu and finish B. 2. Check the answers. Talk about the structure and how to write the recommendation letter. (Purpose) Main body (Qualities, Abilities & Examples) (Conclusion) 2. Give them some useful expressions and words that they can use in the letter. 3. Ask them to write their own passages about“Who can be their monitor?”. 4. Show their letters and learn to check. Read their letters to each other. Step 5 Language points 1. He will help us with our lessons if we are absent from school. 如果我们没有到校,他会帮助我们学习功课。 (1) help sb. with sth. 意为“帮助某人(做)某事”。可与help sb. (to)do sth.进行同义句改写。 I often help my mother with housework. =I often help my mother (to) do housework. 我经常帮助妈妈做家务。 (2) be absent from 意为“缺席”。 Tom was absent from school because of illness.汤姆因为生病没来上课。 2. We hope that you agree with us. 我们希望你同意我们(的意见)。 agree with 意为“同意某人(的观点或看法)”,with 后可跟人或想法。 In general, I agree with you. 总的来说,我同意你的意见。 I don’t know if they will agree with my idea/opinion. 我不知道他们是否会同意我的想法/观点。 【拓展】agree to do sth.意为“同意做某事”。 We all agreed to leave earlier. 我们都同意早点儿出发。 Step 6 Homework 1. Write a letter to your teacher to recommend a classmate for a position in your class. 2. Do the writing exercises in the workbook. 3. Preview Unit 2 Colours on Page 20. 当堂达标 根据汉语提示完成句子。 1. We all want to recommend Jim as our new __________(班长). 2. Lily was ill in hospital yesterday, so she was _________(缺席) from school. 3.
