Dear Dad,
Tday, I spent a lt f time selecting and reading the Father’s Day cards at the shpping mall. They all had a special message that in sme way r anther reflected hw I feel abut yu. Yet it ccurred t me that nt a single card said what I really wanted t say t yu.
Yu’ll sn be 84 years ld. Dad, and yu and I will have had 55 Father’s Days tgether. I haven’t always been with yu n Father’s Day, but I’ve always been with yu in my heart. The Father-Daughter Cnflict shifted int high gear(挡) when yu taught me t drive the ld Ddge while I decided I wuld drive the Chevy whether yu liked it r nt. T my surprise, when the plice fficer sent me hme after yu reprted the Chevy stlen, yu were s tlerant(宽容的) abut it because I had thught that wuld prbably be the wrst night f my life.
Our relatinship greatly imprved when I married a man yu liked, and things really turned arund when we began making babies right and left. Smewhere alng the line, the generatin gap disappeared. I suppse I saw us and ur relatinship as aging tgether, rather like a fine wine.
But the strangest thing happened last week. I was at a stp sign and I watched as yu turned the crner in yur car. It didn’t immediately ccur t me that it was yu because the man driving lked s elderly and weak behind the wheel f that huge car. Perhaps I saw yur age fr the first time that day.
I guess what I’m trying t say, Dad, is what every sn and daughter wants t say t their Dad tday. Hnring a father n Father’s Day is abut respect and sharing and acceptance and tlerance and giving and taking. It’s abut lving smene mre than wrds can say, and it’s my wish that it never had t end.
I lve yu, Dad.
Lve,
Jenny
