Of curse,I received many emails abut Dad as well, but I wuldn't begin t knw hw r where t find them. Besides, persnal messages are mre meaningful when presented in the hand f the sender.
My kids,nw in their 20s,have mstly digital keepsakes. Increasingly they rely n Facebk t stre memries. Their letters frm cllege, sent by email, are lng gne. Many phts, never printed, have disappeared. I really wrry that fr them.
In Andrew Hskins'new bk Digital Memry Studies,he cncludes,“Despite the gradual disappearance f phtgraphs, letters and ther bjects that are reminders f peple and past experiences, their keeping is like hlding n t thse peple and experiences. ”Digital items ffer nthing f the kind.
Mark B. McKinley explained that cllecting physical memrabilia(值得纪念的事物)can serve as a means f cntrl t bring ut a cmfrt zne in ne’s life, calming fears and easing wrries. It’s n wnder that children are fnd f cllecting things—it's imprtant t their develpment.
One mther says,“My Sn cllects pieces f brken stnes. ”The kid might becme a great gelgist r a successful businessman. But will his mm print ut a pht f that unique cllectin? Teenagers wh travel arund the wrld alne have been making headlines quite ften. A yung persn alne in a dangerus situatin attracts attentin and spnsrs. Yung sailrs als attract varius views. Fr example, Jessica Watsn was asked by the gvernment t cancel her vyage; yet the Prime Minister called her “a her fr yung Australians” when she returned. It seemed there is cnfusin abut the cmpetence and independence f yung peple.
The ppular psychlgists tell us that teenage brains are likely t make wrng judgments. But such ideas ften d nt apply t specific individuals. Between the ages f 14 and 18, teenagers vary greatly in their abilities. The amunt f independence that each is allwed shuld be determined nt simply by their age but by discussin with the related, respnsible adults. Sme teens are certainly inexperienced and capable f childish mistakes, but the nes wh attempt dangerus jurneys nrmally d s by winning the cnfidence f hard-headed and well-qualified adult supprters.
But it is als wrng t think that any 16-year ld can desire t get achievements as unusual as Jessica Watsn's. Watsn calls herself “an rdinary girl wh had a dream”. Her intentin is t encurage teenagers but this idea can have the ppsite effect f making them feel nt gd enugh because great achievements are beynd them. Shuld all teens have such dreams? Actually, individuals face varying circumstances that restrict their dreams.
Teenagers wh travel arund the wrld alne shuld nt be judged by precnceived(事先形成的)views abut yung peple. Nr shuld yung “rdinary” teenagers feel pressure t lng fr extrardinary persnal gals. In fact, I believe the example f sl sailing verstresses individualism. The teenage years are when mst f us “rdinary” peple learn that we can achieve great things in cperatin with thers.
    28. Why is Jessica Watsn mentined in the first paragraph?
    T praise Jessica's great achievement.
T pint ut the media's interest in yung peple.
T intrduce a divided idea abut yung peple's adventures.
    D. T shw the Prime Minister's attitude against the gvernment.
What can be inferred abut teenagers frm the text?
They need supprts f respnsible adults.
Their abilities vary with the level f independence.
They tend t make wrng decisins between 14 and 18.
Their attempts in dangerus jurneys prve their lacking experience.
What des Jessica mean by calling herself “an rdinary girl wh had a dream”?
    Dreams need encuragement.
    Teenagers shuld have wild dreams.
Everyne wuld accmplish what Jessica has dne.
Ordinary teens culd als make great achievements.
What's the authr's attitude twards teenagers travelling alne?
    A. Supprtive.B. Dubtful.C. Uncncerned. D. Sympathetic.
    D
Panglins (穿山甲) are the mst trafficked (非法交易) mammals in the wrld and are facing extinctin. Getting clse t the creatures ver tw years was a crash curse in these secretive creatures. Jhan Vermeulen said, “One thing hwever that might seem unimprtant is that they are actually quite fussy eaters. Yu wuld think they wuld eat any type f ant, but they all prefer a specific type ant.”
Panglins are hunted illegally acrss Africa fr their scales, which are used fr traditinal medicine, and their meat. In April 2019, Singaprean custms fficials cnducted tw separate seizures f 24 tns f panglin scales, which equals t the death f 69,000 panglins.
Thugh the dcumentary fcuses less n the trafficking f panglins, and mre n the animals in their natural habitat, the aim f the dcumentary is t inspire viewers arund the wrld t call fr actin t end trafficking and prtecting these unique creatures.
Filmed n lcatin in Suth Africa, Ghana, Central African Republic, and Gabn, this pwerful dcumentary is the stry f tw men n a missin t get all fur species f African panglin n camera fr the very first time.
