    Learning Chinese culd be ne f the mst imprtant decisins yu have ever made. Chinese is becming the language t learn in the 21st century. With the wrld's largest ppulatin and the rapidly grwing middle class, China stands t becme the engine f the wrld's ecnmy in the cming years. This will make learning Chinese very imprtant fr peple in many industries, r fr thse wh wish t visit China r learn frm its culture and histry.
    There is an nging effrt t mdernize the writing system and standardize the language. An increasing number f peple learning Chinese are learning Mandarin, s unless yu abslutely need t learn anther dialect (such as Cantnese), be sure yu are studying Mandarin.
    Fr native English speakers, Chinese is ne f the mst difficult and mst different languages t learn. The vcabulary is whlly unfamiliar and unlike anything we knw. In additin, in the Chinese tne system, wrds are spken in rising r falling tnes, which help t distinguish them. Furthermre, there is the Chinese writing system — a cllectin f thusands f individual idegrams (表意文字), r symbls, which represent a wrd r an idea. These idegrams have n phnetic (语音的) value — that is t say, we can't tell hw the wrd is prnunced by hw it is written. There is a methd f presenting written Chinese in a phnetic script called pinyin. If yu are learning Chinese, yu'll be wrking with this pinyin system, but the beauty f the traditinal writing system shuldn't be passed up. All these factrs make learning Chinese difficult fr us. Yet, fr a determined learner, there's always a way t vercme these difficulties.
