过去分词作状语可表示时间、结果、原因、条件、让步、伴随等，表被动意义，相当于一个状语从句。1．Offered_help，ne ften said “thank yu”．(＝When ne was ffered help，ne ften said “thank yu”．)过去分词短语作时间状语。2．Given_mre_time，he wuld finish the jb.(＝If mre time was given t him, he wuld finish the jb.)3．Seen_frm_the_hill，the twn lks beautiful.(＝If the twn is seen frm the hill，it lks beautiful.)
第2、3句中的过去分词短语相当于条件状语。4．He came back at midnight，tired_and_badly_wunded．(＝He came back at midnight and he was tired and badly wunded.)过去分词短语相当于伴随状语。
二、连词＋分词(短语)
为了使分词短语与主句关系更清楚，可在分词前加连词，常用的连词有：nce，when，while，if，thugh，althugh，after，befre，as等。1．Once_tasted，the dish is hard t frget.(＝Once the dish is tasted，it is hard t frget.)2．If_heated，ice can be changed int water.(＝If ice is heated，it can be changed int water.)3．Thugh_tld_many_times，he didn't understand it.(＝Thugh he had been tld many times，he didn't understand it.)
