Once yu tell a lie, mre lies are always needed t keep it ging. One example is abut my twelveyearld daughter trying t hide the fact that she had drunk when visiting a friend's huse. I picked her up and I smelled wine n her breath. When I asked her if she had drunk she said “n”. I let her think that I believed her and was just watching and listening t her. She was als talking up a strm and vlunteering t help me ut. It was nt like her! I finally tld her I knew she had drunk. She asked hw and I tld her by her actins. After that she didn't tell lies any mre.
This lessn came frm my grandfather. He believed in hard wrk and ding yur best n matter what yu were ding. He used t say, “A day's wrk fr a day's pay!” He always wrked hard regardless f his age. My dad des the same thing and says, “I have t keep mving s I can keep ging!” And he is 90 years ld nw. My grandmther wrked as a garden caretaker and wrked frm early in the mrning till late each day. They end up in retirement at hme and they aren't always clse t their friends. Allwing the netwrk t help them cnnect with friends and family is a really pwerful thing.
My mther is an enthusiastic user f the Internet, althugh it tk me years t get her t use email. She was brn with nrmal hearing, but lst it when she was 3. She was ttally deaf fr many years, until age 53, when she gt ear aids. They wrk really well. That is a big change fr her. But befre then, her friends culdn't call her n the phne, s they suggested she use email t cmmunicate with them.
Yung peple dn't even think f the Internet as technlgy. It's just there, and they use it. There's been a very interesting change in cmmunicatin styles between ld peple and yung peple. There are sme kids wh are nw in their teens and aren't willing t make phne calls. And they think email is ldfashined and slw.
The reasn why teens dn't make phne calls seems t be that they dn't knw what t say. When they call, they ften stp fr a while and there's a silence. On the ther hand, texting is cnsidered prper, and it's kay if yu dn't answer. Yu_might_have_been_distracted. It's nt rude. But it is strange if yu're in this kind f cnversatin and simply stp talking.
