(2) Ss can use the 3 tenses to introduce somebody.
3. Moral objective:
Teach the students to work hard, overcome themselves.

Ss can use the past tense correctly. Ss can use the sentence pattern “He is(was) afraid of ” correctly.

Step I Lead-in
(1) Greetings
(2) Introduce how to use the “Adventure Map”
Step II Pre-reading
(1)Free talk
T: Do you remember who is he?
Ss: He is Bill.
T: Can you say something about Bill?
Ss: He is Bill
He is strong.
He is not afraid of rats.
He is not afraid of riding a jet-ski.
He is not afraid of hot food.
But there is one thing he is afraid of: riding a horse.
(2) T: Do you want to know more about Bill?
Step III While-reading
(1) Listen to the passage about Bill.
T: Let’s listen and try to remember some information about Bill.
Ss listen to the tape and get some information.
Ss: He is tall and strong.
He is short and thin……..
(stick the information on the blackboard)
(2) Read the passage and fill in the blanks.
T: Are these information all about Bill now?
Please open your books, turn to page 44 and fill in the blanks.

(3) Deal with the details about the passage
A: Deal with “was”
T: Are these information all about Bill now?
Ss: No. It about ten years ago and now.
(stick the time on the board.)
T: How about Bill’s appearance now?
S: He is tall and strong. (stick “tall” and “strong”)
T: How about ten years ago?
Ss: He is short and thin. (stick “short” and “thin”)
T: He was short and thin.(stick “was” on the board)
Ask students read “was” group by group
T: Ten years ago, Bill was short and thin. Now, he is tall and strong.
Ss read the whole sentence after teacher.
Two groups read the whole sentence.
B: Deal with “ill”, “worry about”
T: Ten years ago, what was he afraid of?
Ss: He was afraid of dogs, he was afraid of getting into the water.
T: How about his health ten years ago?
Ss: He was often ill.
Use the picture to explain the word “ill”.
(stick “ill”, “afraid of ” “not afraid of”)
T: Ten years ago, he was often ill , how about his parents attitude?
Ask students tell me which sentence.
PPT show the picture that Bill is in bed. His parents are worry about him.
Give two pictures to practice “worry about”
C: Deal with “proud of”
T: Now, Bill is tall and strong. What about his parents attitude?
Which sentence?
Ss: Sentence five.
PPT shows a picture of Liu xiang.
T: This is Liu xiang. He is the first Chinese people to get the golden medal in the track and field competition in Olympic Games. I want to say: I am proud of you! What do you want to say?
Ss: We are proud of you!
Ask students say this sentences with the proud feeling.
(stick “proud of” on the board)
(4) Read the passage
a. Listen and repeat sentence by sentence
b: Ss read by themselves.
(5) Introduce Bill
Boys introduce: Ten years ago. Girls introduce: Now
Step IV Post-reading
(1)Talk about ten years later
T: Can you guess how about Bill ten years later?
S1: He will be taller
S2: He will be stronger.
S3: He will be a famous swimmer.
(2) Introduce Bill: Ten years ago, Now, Ten years later
a: T give an example
b: Ss talk in groups and choose one to introduce Bill
(3) T: Ten years ago, he was afraid of swimming.
Now, he is a good swimmer.
Ten years later, he will be a famous swimmer around the world
Do you know why?
Ss:…..
T: He works hard, he overcomes himself.
He is the hero in his family.
(4) Introduce some heroes in different fields.
a: T give an example. T introduce Xu Benyu
b: Ss choose the hero they want to know. Change the seats and talk in groups.
c: The students in one group introduce the hero one by one.
(5) Find out the heroes in this class.

1.Read and repeat.
2.Write about Bill.
3.Write about your heroes.
