Unit 6 Design.阅读理解A(2019·全国卷)For Western designers, China and its rich culture have long been an inspiration for Western creative. It's no secret that China has always been a source (来源) of inspiration for designers says Amanda Hill, chief creative officer at AE Networks, a global media company and home to some of the biggest fashion (时尚) shows.Earlier this year, the China Through A Looking Glass exhibition in New York exhibited 140 pieces of Chinainspired fashionable clothing alongside Chinese works of art, with the aim of exploring the influence of Chinese aesthetics (美学) on Western fashion and how China has fueled the fashionable imagination for centuries. The exhibition had record attendance, showing that there is huge interest in Chinese influences.China is impossible to overlook says Hill. Chinese models are the faces of beauty and fashion campaigns that sell dreams to women all over the world, which means Chinese women are not just consumers of fashion—they are central to its movement. Of course, not only are today's top Western designers being influenced by China—some of the best designers of contemporary fashion are themselves Chinese. Vera Wang, Alexander Wang, Jason Wu are taking_on Galliano, Albaz, Marc Jacobs—and beating them hands down in design and sales adds Hill. For Hill, it is impossible not to talk about China as the leading player when discussing fashion. The most famous designers are Chinese, so are the models, and so are the consumers she says. China is no longer just another marketin many senses it has become the market. If you talk about fashion today, you are talking about China—its influences, its direction, its breathtaking clothes, and how young designers and models are finally acknowledging that in many ways. 1What can we learn about the exhibition in New York?AIt promoted the sales of artworks.BIt attracted a large number of visitors.CIt showed ancient Chinese clothes.DIt aimed to introduce Chinese models. 2What does Hill say about Chinese women?AThey are setting the fashion.BThey start many fashion campaigns.CThey admire super models.DThey do business all over the world. 3What do the underlined words “taking on”  in paragraph 4 mean?Alearning from Blooking down onCworking with Dcompeting against答案:D 词义猜测题。由画线词后面的—and beating them hands down in design and sales可知,破折号是对前文的补充,因此beating themtaking on意思相近,所以可知take on此处意为…… 4What can be a suitable title for the text?AYoung Models Selling Dreams to the WorldBA Chinese Art Exhibition Held in New YorkCDifferences Between Eastern and Western AestheticsDChinese Culture Fueling International Fashion Trends答案:D 标题判断题。 BA work of art created by artificial intelligence  (AI) has been sold by a major art seller for the first time. The print sold for an unexpectedly large amount  of $432,500. The artwork was bought during an auction (拍卖) on Thursday at Christie's, an art house, in New York City. Officials had predicted  it would sell for between $7,000  and $10,000. The buyer was not  immediately announced. The artwork, called Portrait  of Edmond Belamy, was made by a  machine learning algorithm (算法). It shows the portrait  of a man, looking similar to subjects shown in historical  paintings. While the piece was not painted by a firstclass artist, it is exactly the kind of artwork we have  been selling for 250 years Christie's sale organizer  Richard Lloyd said in a statement.Three creators from the art group Obvious  cooperated on the process that made the print. They put  a collection of 15,000 portraits into a machine learning  system. The portraits were painted by artists from the  time period between the 14th and the 20th centuries.  Obvious has created a series of AIproduced artworks.  It has experimented with other kinds of historical  paintings. These included subjects from nature to  paintings of the whole human body.Christie's admits that artwork created by machine  learning methods leaves open questions about who  or what should get credit (受到好评) for creating the  pieces. An expert of art and artificial intelligence told Christie's he believes ownership of AI artwork needs to  be shared because humans and machines both take part  in the process. You could say that, at this point, it is a collaboration (协作) between two artists—one human, one machine. And that leads me to think about the  future, in which AI will become a new medium for art.In the case of the Portrait of Edmond Belamy, only one “artist” appears at the bottom, where the signed  name usually appears. This print does not contain a  human's name. Instead, it lists part of the actual machine learning algorithm that created it. 5What kind of paintings has been selling at Christie's  all these years?AArtworks painted by AI.BWorks painted by firstclass artists.CPaintings painted by common artists.DHistorical paintings painted by famous artists. 6What can we infer from the passage?APeople showed great interest in the painting  created by AI.BArtworks created by AI have become very popular at the auction.CThe painting was a milestone of AI development and worth much more.DThe painting was created by firstclass artists  and had much value. 7Why does the author write the fourth paragraph?ATo give an instruction about the art group  Obvious.BTo describe what the portrait looked like.CTo comment on the value of the painting.DTo tell readers how the painting was created. .七选五(2020·江西省抚州市临川二中高三月考)After a tiring day, your bedroom, a comfortable and inviting space, should be one place where you can finally relax.
