Unit 20 New Frontiers课时作业.阅读理解A(2020·湖北省孝感市第一中学高三月考)Last week, two companies, Kitty Hawk and Uber, announced their plans to bring flying cars to reality very soon.Kitty Hawk president, Sebastian Thrun, announced Kitty Hawk's flying car plans last Monday. According to its website, the car is electricpowered and will be able to travel at a speed up to 40 kilometers an hour. It says such a machine “does not require registration or a pilot's license and may be flown in uncrowded areas for recreational purposes.” As of now, the car can only be flown over fresh water.Kitty Hawk is making a list of people interested in buying the flying car. They must pay a deposit of $100.Those who get their names on the list early will receive $2,000 off the final cost of the car. However, Kitty Hawk has not yet announced the price. Its first flying cars are expected to go on sale by the end of this year.Unlike the Kitty Hawk company, Uber does not plan to build its flying cars. Uber expects to launch flying taxis in DallasFt. Worth, Texas, US by 2020.Like the Kitty Hawk car, Uber flying taxis will use electric power. Uber says its flying taxis could travel up to 241 kilometers an hour. The company says that could reduce the travel time between San Francisco and San Jose, California from 2 hours on the road to 15 minutes in the air.Riders could use the Uber app to book a flying taxi to take them to their destinations. The company has not yet said how costly air taxi travel would be compared to road taxi travel. Sooner than you think, flying cars may appear in the sky. Much convenience as they will bring, just imagine having to avoid other flying cars. Also, what if your battery dies when you are in the air? And, how will you know where to land篇章导读:本文是一篇说明文。 1.What may Kitty Hawk's flying car be used for at presentA.Accelerating the speed.   B.Having fun.C.Advertising the company.  D.Fetching water. It says such a machine ... may be flown in uncrowded areas for recreational purposes.’” 2.What do we know about Kitty Hawk's flying car from the third paragraphA.It costs two thousand dollars each.B.It can travel over water.C.It offers $100 to its potential buyers.D.It hasn't gone to market. 由第三段中的最后两句“However, Kitty Hawk has not yet announced the price. Most people now get a lot of their news on electronic devices, instead of traditional media, such as newspapers, television or radio. An increasing number of people also report turning to social media for information. Now, there is a new technology that could greatly change the way we get the news: computercreated news readers. China has launched what it called the world's first artificial intelligence, or AI news presenters. The news readers, supported by machine learning technology, are based on two reallife Chinese newsmen. One is able to present news broadcast in English; the otherin Mandarin Chinese. A report said machine learning was used to examine video images and sounds of the two newsmen. Similar technology has been used to create video products known as “deepfake videos”. A deepfake video is a video that looks real, but was electronically changed. Such videos can make people appear to say things they never said. It's said that the AI presenters will be a great improvement to the news team because they “can work 24 hours a day” on its website and on social media. One of the presenters even promised to “work tirelessly” to keep people informed. Some machine learning experts said the system showed off China's latest progress in voice recognition,  texttospeech technology and data analysis. Others wondered about the effects robots might have on employment and workers. Some people argued that only lowlevel jobs requiring heavy labor will be easily replaced by robots. Others praised the technology as a way for companies to make money from lowcost labor machines. Anyway, for its great potential, some businesses have experimented with similar technology for possible use in news  operations. 5.People now get information mainly from ________.A.electronic devices Btraditional mediaC.social media DAI news presenters答案:A 细节理解题。根据第一段第二句中的“Most people now get a lot of their news on electronic devices”可知,人们现在主要从电子设备上获取信息。6.The author mentioned “deepfake” in Paragraph 3 because ________.A.it was also artificialB.it was also developed by ChinaC.it also used machine learning technologyD.it also gained popularity and recognition答案:C 推理判断题。 A report said machine learning was used ... known as deepfake videos可推知,作者提到deepfake是因为它也用了机器学习技术。7.What can we know about AI news presentersA.AI news presenters can only “speak” one language.B.Not all the people are in favor of AI news presenters.C.AI news presenters will soon replace human news readers.D.AI news presenters can reflect the improvement in robot making. 根据倒数第二段的内容,尤其是“Others wondered about the effects robots might have on employment and workers.” 8.What will probably be discussed in the following paragraphA.Further research on the technology.B.Other advantages of the technology.C.Principles the technology is based on.D.Examples the technology is applied to. 根据最后一段中的“some businesses have experimented with similar technology for possible use in news  operations”可知,接下来的一段很可能讨论应用到这种技术的例子。.七选五(2019·湖北名校冲刺二模)Imagine that you are in a remote village somewhere with no medical clinic. __1__ Once the doctors get to you, they examine you and take blood samples, but they won't be able to help you until they take the samples back to the hospital to find out what is wrong. __2__ Thanks to engineer Andy Ozcan, many people may never be in this situation. He has invented an app that turns your mobile phone into a diagnostic (诊断的) tool.Ozcan's invention is important because it is very accurate and easy to use. In many remote places, even if doctors have microscopes and other instruments to help them make diagnoses, there may still be other problems. Many doctors, for example, don't have enough training to correctly interpret what they see. __3__ With Ozcan's mobile phone app, health workers can take a special photo of a blood sample and send it to a central computer at a hospital. The computer will then automatically interpret the photo and send a diagnosis back in a few minutes.__4__ His technology only requires a mobile phone and an Internet connection. As more than four billion people already have cell phones, the cost of establishing the diagnostic system is fairly low.By inventing a medical tool that uses existing technology—mobile phones—Ozcan has developed a medical tool that is both practical and economical. Therefore, it can be used effectively almost anywhere. __5__A.Another reason that Ozcan's invention is important is that it is inexpensive.B.Even though you may only have a simple infection (感染), you might die because of the delay.C.People are trying to reduce the cost of this new medical tool.D.Ozcan's simple, costeffective tool might just save millions of lives around the world.E.This tool has become much more popular all around the world.F.You become very sick and must wait days until a mobile medical unit arrives to help.G.As a result, they may diagnose illnesses incorrectly. 1.F 根据上文“Imagine that you are in a remote village somewhere with no medical clinic.” 故选F2.B 根据下文“Thanks to engineer Andy Ozcan, many people may never be in this situation.” 故选B3.G 根据上文“In many remote places ... there may still be other problems. Many doctors, for example, don't have enough training to correctly interpret what they see.” 4.A 根据下文“the cost of establishing the diagnostic system is fairly low”可知此处应填Ozcan的发明重要的另一个原因是它不贵。故选A5.D 根据上文“Therefore, it can be used effectively almost anywhere.” 语法填空(2020·黑龙江省牡丹江一中高三学年上学期检测)Not all memories are sweet.
