I had never nticed the habit, but nce he mentined it, I suddenly became mre aware. I realized that whenever I'm
watching TV r typing a reprt, I always start mindlessly cracking sunflwer seeds. My friend desn't like sunflwer seeds,
and, t him, it seems unnecessary t wrk s much just t get ne small seed.
When we were yung, the whle family wuld usually get tgether fr Chinese New Year. Then, we all lived clse t ne
anther, usually in a small city, and smetime even neighbrs wuld g dr-t-dr n Chinese New Year's Eve t check ut what every husehld was making.
I remember my parents wuld be in the kitchen cking. Out in the living rm, a large table wuld already be laid ut,
cmplete with fancy tableclth, ready-made dumping fillings, and dishes full f candy, fruits and sunflwer seeds.
Sme f the dishes were t be ffered t ur ancestrs later, while thers were fr neighbrs and children t eat befre the
evening feast. I must have learned hw t crack sunflwer seeds back then.

real issue, and it's been getting significantly wrse ver the last 5-6 years. Yu can get s hked that it takes yu away frm
yur real relatinships." Hwever, Abigael des admit that scial media is mre likely t wrsen pre-existing issues than
directly cause them.
Other research by the University f Glasgw fund that teenagers are affected by the 24-hur demands f their scial
media accunts. It fund that thse with higher levels f emtinal investment in scial media, and wh use it at night, were
mre likely t feel depressed and anxius.
Despite these warning signs, why d sme f us cntinue t keep clicking? Well, I suppse we all want t be liked and we
dn't want t miss ut n a cnversatin that's taking place nline. But we need t knw when t switch ff ur virtual nline
wrld and cnnect with the real wrld instead.
32. Wh is mre likely t be depressed accrding t the study?
A. Peple checking scial media frequently.
B. Peple surfing the Internet regularly.
C. Peple receiving a few "likes" fr their psts.
D. Peple lnging fr mre messages.
33. Why des the authr give a qute frm Abigael San in Para. 4?

B. Because the virtual wrld is much mre attractive.
C. Because they want t attract mre attentin.
