21.(6分)There are many different vices n charity dnatins recently. Chen TianQia, ne f the Chinese billinaires, gave away $115 millin t the Califrnia Institute f Technlgy (Caltech) t help prmte brain research. Chen has been interested in the brain research, believing it can advance the industries f artificial intelligence and virtual reality. Hwever, this huge dnatin has caused heated discussin amng Chinese schlars and internet users.
Many criticized him fr giving mney t a freign university rather than dmestic institutes fr brain research, which are develping fast and are catching up with the US in just a few years. RaYi, a bilgist at Peking University, even said the dnatin was a typical mistake.
Others, hwever, supprt his chice. They believe Caltech is a mre reasnable chice cmpared with Chinese research Institutes. Caltech has a lng histry and has taken a leading psitin in bilgy, and therefre it prduces mre efficient results. What’s mre, the results f the research will benefit nt nly the Americans, but als the rest f the wrld.
A similar cntrversial(有争议的)case started tw years ag when Pan ShiYi, chairman f SOHO China, dnated $15 millin t Harvard University t help disadvantaged Chinese Students.
Many believe that China is still far behind in management and use f dnated mney, and that as a result, Chinese dnatrs are lking abrad. In cmparisn, Western cuntries like the US, which have a lng histry f dnating mney, have well-develped systems that use mney efficiently. They can als prvide full access fr dnrs wh want t track the use f the mney. T get mre dnatins, Chinese universities shuld be braver and mre hnest. They need self-reflectin rather than envy.
1、Why did Chen’s huge dnatins draw peple’s attentin?
A.It was used fr brain research rather than fr the pr.
      B.It was nt used efficiently.
      C.It was the largest dnatin.
D.It shuld have been dnated t a Chinese cllege.

B.Educating the braver and mre hnest graduates.
C.Develping fast t catch up with the US.
D.Develping systems t use the dnatins efficiently.
22.(8分) Are yu afraid f sharks? What abut snakes r spiders? Put thse fears aside: because in the U.S. yu’re far mre likely t be killed r injured by a deer skipping acrss the rad.
Deer cause mre than 200 humans deaths each year, plus sme 29,000 injuries, all because f 1.2 millin cllisins between vehicles and deer. Mst incidents ccur in the eastern U.S., where deer prsper withut natural predatrs like wlves and muntain lins.
“That’s the regin in the U.S. where deer-vehicle cllisins are such a prblem, and where it seems like an effective large carnivre reintrductin culd make a really big difference.” says wildlife bilgist Laura Prugh frm University f Washingtn. She thinks it wuld help t reintrduce predatrs like muntain lins, als knwn as cugars, pumas r panthers, t parts f their histric range frm which they’ve been driven ut.
The researchers say that bringing the predatrs back t the eastern U.S. wuld mean 22 percent fewer cllisins between cars and deer ver three decades. Each year wuld see five fewer human deaths, 680 fewer injuries and a savings f sme 550 millin. Sphie L. Gilbert thinks there are great sciecnmic benefits f large predatr restratin thrugh reduced wildlife-vehicle cllisins and she says, says, “Cugars have shwn that they can cexist in shrt distance with peple, with very few cnflicts, in a lt f areas ut west.”
Still, sme flks might be understandably nervus abut this kind f plan. After all, reintrducing predatrs desn’t cme withut risks t pets and t livestck, and very ccasinally t peple.
“Our fear f large predatrs is s natural and intense that I dn’t think it’s pssible t just cmpletely clear it with statistics... What I hpe is that knwing that there actually can be sme measurable benefits might make peple a little mre supprtive and maybe balance that fear a little bit.” says Laura.
Indeed, the statistics shw that cugars wuld prevent five times as many human deaths frm deer-related accidents as they wuld cause by attacks. But it’ll be a tugh sell: the press will cver cugar attacks, but a statistically prevented death des nt make the news. Nevertheless, “If peple in the west can put up with having muntain lins arund, I wuld hpe that New Yrkers wuld be up fr the challenge as well.”

B.T maintain bidiversity and eclgical balance.
C.T take up the challenge frm peple in the west.
D.T reduce peple’s fear f this dangerus creature.
3、Why is it hard t persuade peple t accept this measure?
A.Because the risks utweigh the benefits.
B.Because muntains lins like eating peple.
C.Because the benefits are nt as eye-catching as its risks.
D.Because muntain lins tend t get t clse t peple.
4、What is the best title fr the text?
      A.Puma: a Tugh Sell
      B.A New Study n Puma
