He challenged a grup f 14-year-lds with an apprximatin test: The kids stared at a cmputer screen and saw grups f yellw and blue dts flash by, t quickly t cunt. Then they had t say whether there had been mre blue dts r yellw dts. The researchers fund that mst were able t answer crrectly when there were 25 yellw dts and 10 blue nes. When the grups were clser in size, 11 yellw dts and 10 blue nes, fewer kids answered crrectly.
The big surprise in this study came when the researcher cmpared the kids’ apprximatin test scres t their scres n standardized math tests. He fund that kids wh did better n the flashing dt test had better standardized test scres, and vice versa (反之亦然).
