shape. But a new study published in Science adds an unexpected finding: baby chickens make these same pairings,
suggesting that the link t human language may nt be s unique.
The study was led by Maria Lcnsle, a cmparative psychlgist at the University f Padua. She and her
clleagues placed chicks in frnt f tw panels: ne featured a flwerlike shape with gently runded curves; the
ther had a spiky shape like a cartn explsin. They then played recrdings f humans saying either “buba” r
