After finishing his studies in chemistry in 1988, Fang began wrking at the museum, using science fr his lve f histry. He fcuses n jiandu — things peple wrte n befre paper was used. In 2002, he faced a huge task — ver 92,000 pieces frm the Qin Dynasty were fund in Hunan. He stayed in Changsha fr nine years, wrking 12 hurs a day t srt ut and prtect them.
Preserving jiandu is extremely difficult. They are made f natural materials and break dwn easily. Once unearthed, they quickly turn black in the air, making the writing unreadable. Fang’s repair wrk invlves ver 20 steps, with declring and dewatering being the mst imprtant. Declring brings back the riginal (原 来 的) clr and keeps the wrds clear, while dewatering helps them leave the wet cnditin and stay steady fr keeping. After years f trying, he fund a gd tw-step way and wn a natinal technlgy prize in 2019.
Each case is different. In 2020, his team wrked n Han Dynasty bamb pieces frm a rbbed tmb in Dingzhu. The pieces brke easily. They tried ver 70 times t keep them tgether. Even thugh the writing was
almst impssible t see, a special camera using infrared (红外线的) light shwed the wrds clearly.
S far, Fang and his team have fixed ver 100,000 pieces. “Fr things like these, nce they are dug up, there’s nly a shrt time t save them. I cannt stp — the faster I wrk, the mre f ur histry I can save,” said Fang.

Have yu ever seen an animal vide nline that made yu stp and wnder? Vides shwing a wlf taking
care f a rabbit, r a lin walking calmly thrugh a small twn are nw spreading widely. This is pssible because f AI technlgy. Hwever, scientists warn such ppular vides may hurt real wildlife prtectin and spread wrng ideas abut nature.
A study in Cnservatin Bilgy pints ut that AI-generated animal vides create an untrue wrld, leading t wrng ideas abut animal behavir and widening the gap between peple and nature. C-authr Jsé
Guerrer-Casad stresses the danger f false (虚假的) infrmatin. Fr example, vides shwing birds killing “bad” snakes might make peple less willing t prtect snakes, and create false ideas abut animals that are already in
danger.
The effect n children is especially wrrying. These vides can give them wrng ideas abut hw peple and animals really get alng. When children discver that real-wrld animals d nt act as they d in these made-up
vides, it can have the ppsite result, finally making them feel less cnnected t nature. This risk grws as yung peple increasingly turn t scial media fr infrmatin.
S, hw can ne recgnize these vides? Experts suggest lking fr a few signs: unnatural animal
mvements that appear t smth r seem impssible in real life; light and shadws that d nt lk quite right; and small details like fur r feathers that appear unclear r repeat in an unusual way.
T deal with these risks, the research team suggests putting mre effrt int educatin, like teaching media literacy (素养) in schls. As anther c-authr Francisc Sánchez says, the gal is t make sure “children learn early that there are n
lins living here.” While they think this is imprtant, the researchers als say that schl lessns alne cannt stp the spread f false infrmatin made by AI. This leads t an imprtant questin abut wh else in sciety needs t help slve this prblem, if schl educatin is nt enugh.

A. By giving examples. B. By making a cmparisn.
C. By quting an expert. D. By sharing an experience.
9. What can be inferred abut AI-generated animal vides?
A. They make children lve animals less. B. They mainly fcus n species in danger.
C. They may make animals seem dangerus. D. They create a false understanding f nature.
10. Accrding t paragraph 4, which is mst prbably an AI-generated vide?
A. A parrt with clear feathers. B. A cat with natural shadws.
C. A dg with unusual marks. D. A frg with extremely smth jumps.

In the study, the researchers used EEG — electrencephalgraphy (脑电图). T recrd the children’s brain activity as they listened t a recrding f The Gingerbread Man fairy tale. They fund that strnger neural activity in language-related centers f the left hemisphere (半 球) f the brain was cnnected with better reading utcmes fr all the children. Hwever, the musical grup shwed higher reading scres even with lwer levels f this brain activity, which may mean they have mre adult-like prcessing f language.
“Adults tend t use bth sides f the brain t prcess music and speech, and smetimes mre n the right hemisphere. The musically trained children seem t have a mre adult-like tracking f speech,” says Garcia-de-Sria.
“The finding that musical training imprves the left hemisphere phnlgical encding prcesses f language is in agreement with the brader literature (文献),” says Alice Mad Prverbi at the University f Milan-Biccca in Italy. Hwever, music training can als lead t changes in the right hemisphere f the brain, prmting faster reading, she says.

14. What can we infer abut the musically trained children?
A. They prcessed speech less effectively than adults.
B. They had a speech-prcessing mde similar t adults.
C. They perfrmed wrse in reading than nn-musical children.
D. They shwed higher brain activity than nn-musical children.
15. What des Prverbi say abut music training?
A. It has n significant impact n bth sides f the brain.
B. It influences bth hemispheres t imprve reading skills.
C. It nly affects the left hemisphere’s language prcessing.
D. It mainly changes the right hemisphere t enhance reading.
