In January 2007, an rdinary afternn in New Yrk City turned int a life-r-death mment that wuld later be remembered acrss the cuntry. At a crwded subway statin, a cnstructin
wrker named Wesley Autrey std waiting with his tw yung daughters, unaware that he wuld sn face a decisin requiring bth curage and clarity f mind. Nearby, 20-year-ld student
Camern Hllpeter suddenly lst cntrl f his bdy and cllapsed directly nt the tracks frm a heart attack. At the same time, a train was already appraching the statin at cnsiderable speed, leaving nly secnds befre impact.
Panic spread quickly alng the platfrm. Sme passengers cried ut in alarm, while thers frze, unable t prcess what was unflding befre them. The situatin was chatic, and n
      immediate slutin seemed pssible.
Autrey, hwever, reacted almst instinctively. After instructing his daughters t remain
where they were, he jumped dwn nt the tracks. At first, he attempted t lift Hllpeter back
nt the platfrm, but quickly realized that there was nt enugh time. Faced with an impssible
chice, Autrey made a split-secnd decisin. He pressed the uncnscius man dwn int a shallw drainage space between the rails and lay flat ver him, using his wn bdy as a shield. Mments
later, the train thundered verhead, passing s clse that it barely tuched Autrey’s cap. When the train came t a halt, an astnishing discvery awaited the nlkers: bth men were alive. Against all dds, they had survived.
In the aftermath, Autrey cnsistently dwnplayed his actins, insisting that he had simply
dne what anyne shuld d. Yet public reactin suggested therwise. He was widely praised fr his bravery and later hnred by city fficials. What makes this incident remarkable is nt merely the dramatic rescue, but the nature f the decisin behind it. In extreme situatins, hesitatin is
ften the default respnse. Autrey’s actin, by cntrast, illustrates hw instinct, shaped by respnsibility and empathy, can verride fear.
24 .What directly led t the dangerus situatin n the subway tracks?
A .The subway statin lacked safety facilities.
B .The appraching train mved at high speed.

In recent years, a new trend has becme cmmn in branding: everyday prducts such as
fd, drinks and even tls are given human features, like smiling faces and simple arms and legs. These lively images can nw be seen in shps, advertisements and nline platfrms. They are
ften bright in clr and simple in frm, which makes them easy t ntice and remember. This raises a questin: why are such cartn-like designs s ppular?
One reasn is their emtinal appeal. In a fast-paced and smetimes stressful wrld, peple are naturally drawn t things that are simple and enjyable. Cmpared with mre serius r frmal designs, these playful images can make peple feel relaxed. By giving human qualities t rdinary bjects, brands can create a friendly image and cnnect mre easily with cnsumers. In this way, prducts becme mre engaging and easier t remember, which may influence peple’s chices.
Anther reasn is the inheritance f earlier artistic styles. This kind f design can be traced back t early animatin, where characters were drawn with simple shapes and clear expressins.
Tday’s designers cmbine these elements with mdern tastes, creating images that feel bth
familiar and new. As a result, such designs are accepted by peple f different ages and are widely used in different industries, frm fd t fashin.
Hwever, the wide use f this style has als caused prblems. With the help f digital tls, many businesses can prduce similar designs with little effrt. In sme cases, cmpanies even rely n ready-made templates (模板) instead f riginal ideas. As a result, different brands may begin
t lk alike, making it harder fr cnsumers t tell them apart. This may weaken the unique image that a brand tries t build.
Despite these cncerns, this trend is unlikely t disappear sn. It reflects peple’s desire
fr simple and enjyable experiences in mdern life. The key issue, therefre, is hw such designs can be used in a mre creative way, rather than simply cpied.
28 .What des the first paragraph mainly talk abut?
A .The ppularity f cartn-like images in different places.
B .The variety f prducts that nw use cartn-like designs.
C .The grwing use f human-like features in prduct branding.
D .The bright clrs and simple frms that make prducts nticeable.
29 .What kind f designs d cnsumers tend t prefer?
A .Thse helping t ease their pressure. B .Thse stressing serius prduct qualities.
C .Thse bearing cmplicated human features. D .Thse keeping with traditinal frmal styles.
30 .What des the underlined wrd “inheritance” in paragraph 3 prbably mean?
      A .Origin. B .Cpy. C .Traditin. D .Influence.
31 .What can be inferred frm Paragraph 4?
A .Digital tls encurage unique design ideas.
B .Ready-made templates imprve design efficiency.
C .Cnsumers actively supprt creative brand images.
D .Similar designs may weaken a brand’s unique identity.
      D
Archaelgists wrking in Egypt’s Nile Delta may have discvered a structure dating back arund 2,600 years while testing a new technlgy designed t lcate structures buried deep
beneath the surface. The team was studying the But site, the ruins f an ancient city that was ccupied frm the Predynastic perid t the Early Islamic era.
During its lng histry, But was built, destryed, and rebuilt, and cnsequently has several layers, each ptentially a rich surce f archaelgical remains. Hwever, the ldest parts f the city are nw buried beneath later ruins and thick mud depsits. This wuld make traditinal
digging difficult, time-cnsuming, and expensive, as archaelgists have t mve large tns f
debris r struggle with grundwater t reach lwer levels.
The researchers were trialing an integrated apprach that uses satellite radar and electrical
resistivity tmgraphy (ERT). The team started with Sentinel-1 radar satellites t identify
large-scale anmalies (异常事物) frm space. When it detected smething f interest, they
fllwed up with ERT, which sends electrical currents between a series f electrdes placed in the grund t create a three-dimensinal mdel f subsurface structures based n hw different
materials cnduct r resist electricity. This technique has been likened t an undergrund ”CT scan".
The scans shwed that while the upper layers cntained remains frm later histrical
perids, a large, well-defined structure lay at a depth f between three and six meters, dating back abut 2,600 years. At this stage, the researchers thught it culd be a large tmb r temple.
Guided by these results, they carried ut a small excavatin (挖掘), which uncvered mudbrick walls and religius artifacts where the sensrs had predicted.
The results f this study demnstrate the effectiveness f cmbining gephysical
measurements and remte sensing data, which can accurately detect buried settlements in a
cmplex regin. The researchers nw plan t expand these surveys with larger equipment t reach even deeper, lder levels and they believe their integrated apprach can be used t map ther
archaelgical sites befre anyne has t pick up a shvel.
32 .What is the primary purpse f the technlgy used in the study?
A .T uncver ancient artifacts withut disturbing the site.
B .T assist archaelgists in identifying where t excavate.
C .T examine the histrical layers f the But site in detail.
D .T replace traditinal excavatin with advanced imaging tls.
33 .Why is traditinal excavatin at But cnsidered challenging?
A .The site cntains remains frm multiple histrical perids.
B .The mudbrick structures are t fragile t survive excavatin.
C .The equipment required is nt available fr large-scale digging.
D .The deeper layers are hidden beneath later depsits and grundwater.
34 .What is the rle f electrical resistivity tmgraphy (ERT) in the research?
      A .It generates a 3D image f undergrund structures.
B .It detects large-scale anmalies frm satellite images.
C .It remves bstacles that blck access t deeper layers.
D .It determines whether a site cntains valuable artifacts.
35 .What can be inferred abut the integrated apprach used by the researchers?
A .It will cmpletely replace traditinal excavatin.
B .It enables mre efficient archaelgical explratin.
C .It is mainly useful fr studying surface-level remains.
D .It cmbines satellite radar with grund-based methds.
      第二节(共 5 小题;每小题 2.5 分,满分 12.5 分)
      根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Bathrms are naturally damp and steamy. Even with regular cleaning, misture stays arund. Amng wrk, family, and a scial life, cleaning every wall hard daily is almst
      impssible. 36
Recently, a friend nticed yellw stuff falling dwn her bathrm walls. Naturally, I
panicked and wanted answers fast. 37 Its tiny particles flat thrugh the air and settle in damp spts. Once there, mld spreads rapidly.
38 Certain types can cause allergic reactins, breathing issues, and lng-lasting
health prblems if left unchecked. Bathrms, with their cnstant misture, are prime breeding
grunds. Mld grws well in warm, damp cnditins. After a shwer, steam turns t water n
walls and ceilings. Even with gd airflw, misture desn’t g away. Mld ften starts in crners r near pipe parts, then spreads quickly if ignred.
The key t preventin is cntrlling misture. Let fresh air int yur bathrm by pening a windw r running an exhaust fan during and after shwers. Dry surfaces regularly, especially
thse likely t get water drps. If mld already appears, act fast. 39 Fr hard-t-remve mld r chemical sensitivities, vinegar and a hydrgen-based cleaning liquid are safer chices.
Always wear glves and a mask t prtect yur skin and lungs.
Keeping yur bathrm clean and dry is the best defense. Let fresh air in regularly, clean
frequently, and cnsider a machine that reduces dampness in damp areas. ____40____ By taking
these simple steps, yu can keep misture and mld well under cntrl. Always keep in mind that maintaining a clean envirnment ensures a healthy hme fr everyne.
      A .Mld (霉菌) isn’t just ugly — it’s dangerus.
B .Mld grws wherever misture meets rganic matter.
C .Wipe surfaces smetimes, especially areas easy t get wet.
D .And that’s exactly when mld takes the pprtunity t grw.
E .If the prblem gets ut f hand, calling prfessinals is wise.
F .Fr surfaces that dn’t absrb water, a bleach and water mix wrks well.
G .Prper ventilatin (通风) can prevent the basement frm becming t mist and mldy.

54 .考查动词短语。句意: 她说她一直满怀温情地回想那一天。A. lked back n 回顾、回想;B. watched ut fr 提防;C. lived up t 不负众望;D. made up fr 弥补。根据上文“ She spke fr a gd while abut Dr. Andersn—hw funny and kind he was — and tld us all abut that silly chicken-head glve.

固定搭配 the fight t d sth.
      66 .Dear Editr,
I’m writing t share my thughts abut the TV prgrams played during lunchtime in the canteen.
In my view, music prgrams are the better ptin. First, music relieves mental pressure
effectively. After a mrning f intense classes, ur brains are tired frm heavy thinking. Sft
meldies help us relax and calm dwn, while upbeat music lifts ur spirits, making the lunch
break a perfect time fr mental relaxatin. Secnd, music imprves the dining experience. It
creates a warm, cmfrtable atmsphere that helps us enjy ur meals and chat with classmates peacefully. Unlike news r nisy prgrams, music stays in the backgrund and never disturbs ur eating.
Thank yu fr yur time and thughtful cnsideratin.
      Yurs,
      Li Hua
      67 .范文
At that critical mment Anna stepped in. Appraching the quarreling bys with a calm
smile, she suggested they flip a cin t settle their dispute. Simple as that, the argument ended. Everyne was stunned. Then, she began distributing treats like a caring big sister, instantly
sthing the restless children. Making use f leftver candy bxes, she flded intricate paper
animals — elephants, lins, and birds — and presented them t each child n the bus. The
children’s eyes sparkled with jy as they admired their unique gifts, their cries replaced by
laughter. The man wh had asked abut their dreams earlier watched in astnishment, clapping appreciatively. As fr Sumi, a new emtin warmed her chest: pride.
Sumi excitedly called Anna a her, but she shk her head gently. She grinned and replied
sftly, “Mm, I’m nt a her. When a her walks dwn the rad, everyne claps, but I want t be the ne clapping fr thers.” That simple answer shifted smething deep within Sumi. She
realized she had always pushed Anna t achieve, shine, and be number ne, yet she had missed the pint. Being kind, happy, and true t neself was the real achievement. Perhaps being “Number
23” wasn’t terrible after all; it was exactly where Anna was meant t shine. A tear f jy rlled
dwn Sumi’s cheek as she wrapped her arm arund her daughter’s shulder. “Then be that
teacher, my Anna. I shall be yur ludest admirer.”
