      A New Era f Learning
Artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping childhd in far-reaching ways. Frm schl t
hme, AI is changing hw children learn, play and frm relatinships. It brings benefits but als dangers.
      AI in Educatin
AI use in schls has becme cmmn. Here is the result f a survey (see the chart belw) frm the RAND Crpratin, a research rganisatin.
Gvernments are supprting this trend. The United States encurages schls t integrate AI fundamentals int all subjects. Singapre has intrduced AI lessns in primary schls. In
Hangzhu, children receive at least ten hurs f annual instructin in AI.
Teachers use AI t generate quizzes as well as persnalised assignments fr students. A
trial in 68 secndary schls in England fund that science teachers equipped with ChatGPT culd reduce their weekly lessn-planning time by nearly a third.
      Risks and Cncerns
Despite the benefits, there are wrries. Sme believe AI may weaken children’s thinking
skills. A survey fund that 21% f primary and secndary students said they wuld rather rely n AI than think independently. Researchers at MIT fund that students using ChatGPT while writing essays shwed less brain activity and were less able t recall what they had written.
Classrm learning remains imprtant. Whle-class learning may be slwer than
AI-pwered persnalised tutring, but it enhances children’s skills like interacting, cperating
and reaching an agreement — “things that an AI tutr culd shrt-circuit”, says Julia Kaufman f RAND.
      Mving Frward
Schls need t guide students n hw t use AI. AI tls shuld be designed t encurage thinking, nt just prvide answers. With cautius use, AI can be a helpful partner in educatin.
But the human elements f learning — cnnectin, cnversatin and cperatin — remain irreplaceable.
1 .What percentage f students in US gt help frm AI during 2024 and 2025?
      A .25%. B .36%. C .61%. D .69%.
2 .What advantage des AI shw in the example in Paragraph 4?
A.Better planning. B.Persnalised lessn. C.Mre interactin. D.Imprved efficiency. 3 .What is the suggestin raised in the passage fr AI applicatin?
A .Interactin shuld be added int AI.
B .Parental guidance shuld be prvided.
C .Diverse AI tls shuld be designed.
D .Students shuld be taught t use AI prperly.

The mment I slid int the car, Mm hit me with the news: I was t spend the afternn with Grandpa while she attended a meeting. My prtest was immediate, but in vain, as Dad was als away n business.
When we entered Grandpa’s apartment, he sat befre the televisin. Nt lng after Mm left, an awkward stillness settled between us. When I tried t find a cmfrtable psitin n the wrn sfa, my ft hit smething slid under the furniture, and I pulled ut a wden bx.
Grandpa glanced ver, “Oh — my chess set.” I really didn’t knw Grandpa used t play chess. I just knew a by in my class played and entered turnaments.
After a thughtful pause, he ffered t teach me. Grandpa intrduced each piece — the
king’s deliberate steps, the queen that “zips all ver”, knights tracing L-shaped paths. He made me name them all and demnstrate their mves repeatedly, crrecting my bad mves with unexpected patience.
During ur first game, he explained every mve, revealing strategic pssibilities and
warning against traps. I was cnfused by the intercnnected nature f the game — hw each mve pened cuntless pssibilities. Just when I thught I’d made a smart mve, he wuld capture my piece. Eventually, he annunced checkmate, my king crnered and immbile. Game after game, I lst, but each lasted a little lnger.
Mm’s return interrupted ur game. “Chess? Did yu take it easy n him, Dad?”
“Abslutely nt. That’s nt hw learning wrks.”
She sht him a disapprving glance, but Grandpa added, “He did well. He learned a lt.”
Grandpa was right. The game revealed a truth beynd the bard — life, like chess, is a web f cnnectins where each chice shapes what fllws. The rigid lines between us had sftened,
replaced by smething unspken yet real. When I thanked Grandpa fr the chess lessn, he smiled in recgnitin — the first time I culd ever remember seeing him d s.

In the high-muntain grasslands f eastern Califrnia, a gray wl (猫头鹰) rests beside a rad within Ysemite Natinal Park. He is fcused n his prey acrss the rad. As he takes ff, flying just inches ver the pavement, a car speeds by, narrwly missing him.
Many wls are nt as frtunate. Since 2003, 23 individuals — ver 11% f the present ppulatin — have been killed by vehicles. These small, genetically unique wls struggle t survive. Park bilgist Heather Mackey says they’re a signature species f Ysemite.
Therefre, Ysemite partnered with the Institute fr Bird Ppulatins t cnduct a study n wl activities frm 2022 t 2024. The first step was the hardest: capturing the wls t attach
trackers. The team finally fitted six wls with specially designed lightweight GPS backpacks. By dwnlading GPS signals mnthly, Dustin Garrisn, Natinal Park Service bilgist as well as the primary field technician n the study, and his clleagues gained precise data n the wls’ habitat
      use and hunting patterns.
Owls depend n Ysemite’s wet, pen grasslands surrunded by ld-grwth frest and rich in the birds’ favred prey. But these habitats are increasingly at risk. Mre alarmingly, wls
seemed t favr dangerus radsides fr hunting. “The study revealed a high cncentratin f wl territries alng radsides,” ntes bilgist Ramir Aragn. “It might be that rads cut thrugh
areas wls use. S it’s hard t say if they’re attracted t rads r actually just caught in between.”
Data als shws wl activity verlaps (重叠) with traffic peaks. They were mst active
after sunset and between 4 and 6 a.m., while public entry withut reservatin is allwed befre 6 a.m. “We can use the data t regulate the timing s we’re nt creating an artificial push f traffic right arund peak hurs f wl activity,” Mackey says. Researchers als prpse ther prtective measures, including reducing speed limits alng key rads, and mdifying radside vegetatin t make it less attractive.
“There are tw ways t apprach changes,” Garrisn ntes. “Yu either mdify human behavir, r yu mdify wildlife behavir.”
8 .Why des the authr describe the scene in Paragraph 1?
A .T shw hw frtunate the wl is.
B .T predict the utcme f the wl.
C .T present hw natural the park is.
D .T illustrate the prblem the wls face.
9 .What was the mst challenging part f the study?
A .Putting trackers n wls. B .Observing wls at night.
C .Making lighter backpacks. D .Analyzing the GPS data.
10 .What is Ramir’s attitude t wls’ preference fr radside hunting?
      A .Cncerned. B .Subjective. C .Supprtive. D .Critical.
11 .What suggestin is prpsed t slve the verlap between wl activity and traffic peaks?
A .Limit rad speed. B .Set public entry limitatin.
C .Change radside plants. D .Adjust reservatin schedule.
      D
After decades f limited use, gethermal (地热) energy is experiencing a glbal revival.
The United Dwns plant in Crnwall, England, has becme the first gethermal facility t supply electricity t the UK grid (电网), generating electricity while als prducing lithium (锂) fr
      batteries.
The develper says gethermal energy is experiencing a renaissance, driven by cntinuus renewable energy demand in the US and Eurpe. Unlike weather-dependent wind and slar,
gethermal prvides cntinuus clean pwer with shrter cnstructin perid than nuclear and less envirnmental impact than hydrpwer.
Gethermal pwer, thugh used fr decades in vlcanic htspts, currently meets less than 1% f glbal energy demand. This culd sn change, as the Internatinal Energy Agency says it may meet up t 15% f the expected grwth in electricity demand by 2050.
The Crnwall prject reflects bth the challenges and pprtunities f this energy surce. Gethermal explratin ccurred during the il crises f the 1970s. Hwever, financing remained difficult as it carries il-and-gas level risk but with lwer returns. The prject eventually secured funds and drilled tw deep wells in 2018 and 2019. Undergrund, natural radiactive materials
heat water t nearly 190°C under high pressure, which is then brught t the surface t generate electricity. An unexpected discvery added new value: the ht water cntains significant lithium, essential fr electric vehicle batteries, which culd generate ten times mre benefits than
electricity itself, making such prjects mre financially attractive.
Gethermal is becming ecnmical beynd shallw htspts thanks t technlgical
advances. Techniques brrwed frm il and gas drilling, including hrizntal drilling and
high-pressure water injectin t crack ht rcks, allw access t gethermal energy in far mre lcatins.
Cncerns remain abut ptential earthquakes and water pllutin, but experts argue these risks can be managed. As mre prjects emerge wrldwide, cmmunities and investrs are likely t grw mre cmfrtable with the technlgy. With its ability t prvide stable clean pwer
arund the clck, this ancient energy surce may finally be cming int its wn.
12 .Hw des the authr intrduce gethermal energy in Paragraph 2?
A .By listing examples. B .By giving a definitin.
C .By making cmparisn. D .By explaining cause and effect.
13 .What mainly bsts gethermal prjects’ financial appeal?
A .Higher safety level. B .The discvery f its byprduct.
C .Lwer drilling csts. D .Rising demand f clean energy.
14 .What benefit d advanced drilling techniques bring t gethermal use?
A .Lithium may be ecnmical. B .Earthquake risks may be avided.
C .Mre regins will be cvered. D .Envirnmental harm will be reduced.
15 .What can be inferred abut gethermal energy?
A .It is a new frm f green energy.
B .Its ptential risks have been addressed.
C .It has becme ecnmic wrldwide.
D .Its use may supprt grwing energy demand.
      第二节(共 5 小题;每小题 2.5 分,满分 12.5 分)

Human persnalities are typically srted int tw categries: the intrverted (内向的) and the extrverted. Intrverts prefer quiet reflectin, while extrverts lean tward lively interactins. These differing tendencies shape distinct behavirs, ften causing misunderstandings. Thus, it is vital t understand them.

When a friend’s behavir unsettles yu, first trace the rt t their basic nature, which
naturally shapes their everyday actins. An intrvert may perceive a private questin as implite, while an extrvert might intend friendliness with it. 18 In this way, a slid bnd can be frmed.
Since these character differences easily cause tensins, pen dialgue becmes crucial
when cnflicts arise. 19 And since this is a shared effrt, yu and yur friend must bth speak up. If yu’re mre intrverted, yu can request pauses t share yur ideas; if yur friend is
mre extrverted, he can fcus n listening mre, which fsters balanced interactin.
20 Intrverts d well in quiet reflectin, ffering thers a sense f calm and ease. Extrverts, by cntrast, shine with energy, lifting spirits and breaking the stillness. This is why we shuld embrace each friend with an admiring mindset. We must reject rigid labels, hnr
differences, and bridge gaps thrugh respect.
A .Persnality styles are never fixed.
B .The first step is t clearly vice yur needs.
C .Hwever, these cnflicts can be wrked ut.
D .Such misunderstandings dn’t cme frm rudeness, just differences.
E .Given these differences, set aside judgment and respect these distinctins.
F .Every persnality, whether intrverted r extrverted, has remarkable strengths.
G .Therefre, avid labeling friends simply as abslute “intrverts” r “extrverts”.
