Graduatin day came. The ceremny was lud. I heard Sarah crying n my left. Owen was laughing the way he always did — big and lud. We had spent six years tgether at this schl. Nw we were leaving. But I fund it hard t say gdbye t my teachers and friends.

      "Teacher," I said.
I heard her take a deep breath. "Yes. That's me."
I tuched her face again — the laugh lines and the kindness written all ver her face. This was the wman wh had guided me fr six years. At last, I knew her face.
Under each face were tiny raised bumps. "Sarah Smith," the bumps spelled ut. Under Owen's face: "Owen Brwn." This way, we wuld always remember each ther's names.
Tears came ut. Fr the first time, I culd "see" all my friends — and s culd they.

In August 2025, 280 rbt teams frm 16 cuntries gathered in Beijing fr the first Wrld Humanid (人形) Rbt Games. They cmpeted in ftball, athletics, dance, and martial arts (武术). It lked like science fictin — but it was very real.
Behind the fun lies a serius cmpetitin between natins. China is taking the lead. Accrding t Omdia, abut 13,000 humanid rbts were shipped wrldwide in 2025. Of these, 87% came frm Chinese cmpanies. American cmpanies like Tesla held just 1%. The difference is huge and grwing.
Hw did China get s far ahead? One answer is strategy (策略). While sme Western cmpanies fcus n industrial rbts, many Chinese cmpanies build rbts fr "edutainment" — educatin and entertainment. These rbts dance in malls and perfrm at sprts events.
At first, this might seem less imprtant. But experts say it has a deeper purpse. By putting thusands f rbts int real-wrld use, Chinese cmpanies cllect valuable data abut pwer life and mvement. This helps them imprve technlgy quickly.
This strategy als creates a supply chain (供应链). Prducing thusands f rbts requires many parts. This builds an industry ecsystem. As prductin increases, csts cme dwn. China is making rbts cheaper and better.
Hwever, hardware (硬件) is nly half the stry. Rbts als need sftware — the "brain" that cntrls them. In March 2026, China intrduced a new natinal standard fr rbt cntrl systems. Fr the first time, different rbts can share the same "brain".
This standard was develped by many universities and cmpanies including Huawei. It means a factry rbt culd be reprgrammed t wrk n a farm. Sftware can be reused like building blcks.
The rbt race is abut shaping the future. As rbts enter hmes and hspitals, the leading cuntry will help decide hw humans and machines live tgether. Fr nw, China's strategy is wrking. The rbts dancing n stage tday may be the nes helping in hmes tmrrw. The race has just begun, and China is running fast.
31.What is the main purpse f paragraph 1?
      A. T list all the sprts in the Rbt Games. B. T describe what the rbts lk like.
      C. T intrduce the Rbt Games held in China. D. T predict the future f rbt technlgy.
32.What advantage des China's "edutainment" strategy bring?
      A. It enables rbts t be mre intelligent. B. It fcuses mre n factry rbts.
      C. It helps cllect useful perfrmance data. D. It reduces the need fr rbt parts.
33.Why is the new natinal standard imprtant?
      A. It makes all rbts lk the same. B. It allws different rbts t share sftware.
      C. It stps freign rbts entering China. D. It increases the cst f rbt prductin.
34.What des the writer think f China's future in rbtics?
      A. Prmising. B. Stuck. C. Educatinal. D. Uncertain.
35.In which sectin f a newspaper can we prbably read the text?
      A. Entertainment. B. Educatin. C. Science fictin. D. Technlgy.

Birds are famus fr waking up early. But in a recent study, scientists discvered that light pllutin is leading birds t wake even earlier and g t sleep later. Bright lights are csting birds an average f 50 minutes f sleep each night.
Brent Pease is a teacher at a university. In 2023, he wanted his students t be mre excited abut birds. S, he set up a micrphne at an utdr educatin center t recrd birdsng and play it in class.
It wrked well! Then, he began using a special recrding device (装置) called a PUC. It was made by a grup named Bird Weather. This device desn't just recrd birdsng; it als recrds time, place, and weather infrmatin, and sends all f this t the Internet.
Bird Weather gets data frm PUCs all ver the wrld. Their website has cllected abut 1.4 billin bird sngs. Dr Pease believes this is "really imprtant fr wildlife research".
With this wealth f data, scientists can knw nt nly where birds are, but what they are ding all day and night. Dr Pease and anther scientist, Neil Gilbert, decided t use this data t study hw light pllutin affects birds.
What is light pllutin? It happens when t much artificial light, like that frm streetlights r buildings, makes the night much brighter than nrmal. Light pllutin affects 23% f the Earth. It's knwn that bright city lights can cnfuse (使混淆) and even kill birds that fly at night. But the scientists wanted t find ut hw birds were affected when they lived in areas with light pllutin.
They fund that in brighter places, birds began singing 18 minutes earlier in the mrning. At night, they sang 32 minutes lnger. That means they stayed up 50 minutes lnger every day.
The light had a strnger effect n birds with larger eyes (cmpared t their bdy size). This included birds like American rbins (知更鸟), Nrthern cardinals (红衣凤头鸟), and s n. But birds that nest in dark areas were nt greatly affected by light pllutin.
Scientists are wrried that birds' natural daily rhythms are changing. But they still dn't knw if staying up lnger is harmful t the birds. Maybe the birds are getting used t it.
36.What are the main methds f the research?
① Using a special device (PUC) t recrd and study birdsng.
② Cunting the number f bird sngs in different areas by hand.
③ Studying birds with larger eyes and birds nesting in dark areas.
④ Cmparing the timing f bird sngs with the data n light pllutin.
      A. ①②③ B. ②③④ C. ①②④ D. ①③④
37.What can scientists d with the data frm Bird Weather?
      A. They can change birds' sleep habits.
      B. They can make sure hw far birds will fly.
      C. They can learn abut birds' daily activities.
      D. They can build mre utdr educatin centers.
38.What des the underlined wrd "artificial" in paragraph 6 prbably mean?
      A. Human-made. B. Natural. C. Clrful. D. Amazing.
39.What des paragraph 7 tell us?
      A. Hw the scientists are wrried abut the birds.
      B. The main findings r results f the recent study.
      C. Slutins fr reducing the harm f light pllutin.
      D. The fact that birds enjy singing in the early mrning.
40.What can be a suitable title fr the text?
      A. Hw Light Pllutin Changes Birds' Sleep B. Why Sme Birds Nest in Dark Areas
      C. Why Birds Sing Lnger in Dwntwn Areas D. Hw New Devices Help Study Birds
