I culd see frm Mnet's wrks that he was greatly inspired by nature. In the last three decades f his life he painted mstly scenes frm his garden. One f these sences is shwn in the famus piece BlueWater Lilies, which I studied fr quite a while in the gallery.

When a few minutes had passed
I culdn't believe it when I heard he did arund 250 paintings f the same water lily pnd, all in different clurs and styles. It is amazing that every time Mnet studied this simple scene, he brught the pnd's beauty t the canvas in a unique way.
Renir, I nticed, preferred t paint scenes f ereryday life. Fr me, the mst interesting f his paintings is his 1876 masterpiece Dance at Le Mulin de la Galetee, which shws life in a busy neighburhd f Paris n a Sundy afternn.
prefer ding /t d sth 更喜欢做某事prefer (ding) A t (ding) t d A rather than d B 比起B来更喜欢做A

When I saw it up clse, I was struck by the small areas f light acrss the painting, and the way the sft edges f the figures seemed t mix tgether. There' s s much ging n, but s little clear detail. This effect makes the lively mvement f the dance almst jump ut at the viewer.

Althugh the paintings had very different settings, it was their similarities that stayed with me lng after I left the Musée d'Orsay ---- similarities which can be seen thrughut the Impressinists' paintings. Mnet and Renir, alng with ther like-minded artists, sught liberatin frm the rules f the ld style. Everyday subject matter was the main fcus f their wrks, as ppsed t the histry paintings that had traditinally dminated Eurpean art.
seek—sught——sught
强调句型It is /was+ 被强调的部分+that /wh人+ 句子其他部分。

They emplyed free brushwrk and used clurs t shw the effect f light n things, creating paintings [that were far less realistic] than the wrks [that came befre]. T me, these techniques are the essence f the Impressinist view f art. Impressinist artists did nt try t paint every detail in a scene---just a brief "impressin" they had at that mment, burning with vivid clurs and light, befre it disappeared.
