(24-25高三上·云南普洱·阶段练习)It was the first tax-free weekend f the summer. It was ht utside and the mall was 1 . It was my turn t stand at the frnt f ur stre, 2 hw many peple were inside, and 3 thse utside t wait their turn. It wasn’t my favrite task, but I was gd at it.
While ur stre mainly sells intimates (内衣), it als wns a 4 sprt brand. Therefre I wasn’t 5 when I let in a middle-aged cuple and they 6 called their teenage sn t let him knw we sld this brand. (24-25高三上·云南玉溪·阶段练习)I have been s frtunate t receive kindness frm everybdy arund, warmth frm animals and Mther Nature. When I was 1 up, I was taught 2 t thank everything arund with gratitude and regard everyne arund with 3 and kindness, just as my grandparents and parents did.
A lng, lng time ag, earlier in my career, I was 4 fr hiring a lt f peple in key psitins. One f my guiding principles was t always 5 candidates with kindness and respect. But as many years went by, I was laid ff because f the 6 f ur cmpany and the severe ecnmic pressure sweeping the cuntry.
Like all the candidates I had 7 , I became an interviewee. That was 8 fr me. I went thrugh a string f interviews, all 9 . After ne particular interview, the interviewer asked if I remembered him.“N,” I replied. “Well,” he said 10 ,“yu interviewed me a few years ag and thugh I didn’t get the jb, I still 11 hw yu treated me with kindness and respect. (2025·河南郑州·一模)When I was 19, determined nt t spend my last teenage year stuck in the suburbs, I tk ff with an Australian friend and we traveled arund Eurpe fr mnths. We stayed in the cheapest accmmdatin we culd find and 1 bread, cheese and the ccasinal bttle f red.
This was 1990, a time befre mbile phnes and the Internet, when the primary cntact with hme was the 2 f mail frm the general pst ffice.
Befre I left, Mm had made me a small mney bag t 3 arund my neck. She’d als made me a sleeping sheet s that I culd avid 4 bedding. These gifts were her way f telling me t have a wnderful time, even thugh she didn’t want me t g.
It’s nly nw, as my 18-year-ld daughter is 5 t leave n her wn gap year trip, that I have mre 6 fr what Mm felt. Wrking multiple jbs and saving mney, my daughter has researched where t stay, hw t get arund and what t d when she 7 . She rarely asks fr my pinin and I find myself 8 unsure f whether I shuld get invlved r 9 . I want t be 10 but nt t invlved. I want t be cl but nt cld. I want t be like the perfect travel 11 .

(24-25高三上·河南漯河·期末)I heard sme gd news recently. My 91-year-ld grandfather called me t 1 his new hearing aid. Fr the first time in a lng time, he culd hear my vice. It 2 us bth.
I sn fund ut there was anther reasn my grandparents were s happy — their new audilgist (听觉病矫治专家), Anna. Unlike the 3 prviders they’d been dealing with, Anna gave time and attentin. Anna nt nly 4 the new hearing aid wrked as it shuld, but als ffered t g t my grandparents’ apartment t shw them hw t use it.
Such 5 might sund rare, but I’ve since started wndering: What if it’s mre cmmn than we think?
It started with sme research that shwed peple ften underestimate (低估) the 6 f strangers t engage with, r even befriend them. Then I came acrss a study that 7 news cverage f current affairs tends t be mre negative than psitive because humans tend t give negative events mre attentin.
8 stries can attract ur attentin and prepare us fr disappintment. But if we dn’t engage with psitive nes, they might lead us t be mre critical f the wrld, mre defensive and less 9 than we need t be.
S I think smetimes what we hear, see, r even knw might nt be the whle picture. The truth might be 10 frm us, requiring us t ntice and discver it. We culd start by asking urselves whether we are 11 mre n negative r psitive stries and whether we are letting negative news surrund us. Maybe even paying mre attentin t gd news r 12 sharing gd news will help.
Anna’s attitude was remarkable. She 13 the call f duty and, upn leaving, 14 t accept anything but wrds as thanks.
Why nt 15 urselves that, fr all f the bad that’s in the wrld and in the news, behind the scenes, in peple’s rdinary lives, lie untld stries f extrardinary gd?
