Als, he keeps reprts n his findings and hands them in t the Wdland Trust where the infrmatin is added t a database fr the use f prfessinal researchers. “One f the gd things abut this prject is that it is really flexible,” he explains. “The minimum cntributin required is 12 surveys a year but it is easily achievable. Last year, I actually handed in 40 reprts.”
Smetimes his wrk invlves mre than just lking at trees, with reprts fllwed up with the cllectin f samples (样本), which are sent t Frest Research fr testing. “There are 22 main pests and diseases that need special attentin, including ash dieback, sweet chestnut blight and the ak prcessinary mth,” explains Steve.
The Wdland Trust recently asked him t becme a lead vlunteer t help and supprt ther vlunteers, and he is excited abut what his secnd year f surveying (勘查) will bring. “If the trees culd talk, I imagine the stries they culd tell me abut what has happened arund them ver the years. I really like surveying at places f histric interest fr that reasn, where sme f the trees have been arund fr hundreds f years,” says Steve.
