Step 1 读前活动
知识测验（Quiz）：教师呈现丹顶鹤的图片，提问“What animal is it? What d yu knw abut it?”接着，引导学生完成课本第81页关于丹顶鹤的知识测验，激活背景知识，激发阅读兴趣。教师可以先不与学生核对答案，待学生阅读文章后，再次浏览问题，补充对丹顶鹤基本信息的了解。
阅读语篇前，教师播放《丹顶鹤的故事》歌曲片段，并利用下列问题链向学生提问。
(1)What is the name f the sng? (The Stry f the Red-Crwned Crane.)
(2) What is the sng abut? (A girl and a red-crwned crane.)
(3)Why wuld a sng abut cranes make peple cry?
(4)What d yu think happened t the girl in the sng?

Step 2 读中活动：了解故事情节，梳理文章脉络
指导学生阅略读文章并思考文章的写作顺序，要求学生在文中圈出表示时间的词。
指导学生细读文章，完成课本第79页活动2的表格，并在黑板上绘制故事时间轴，厘清徐秀娟一生中几个重要的时间节点和重要事件。
引导学生再次阅读文章，完成活动3的词汇练习。若学生程度一般，可引导学生思考以下问题，帮助学生理解5个重点词汇的意义。
