Dr. Wiseman and his wrkmates als submitted jkes created by cmputers. But nne f thse wh tk part in the survey fund any f them amusing. Perhaps this is relief. Cmputers already seem like they can d everything. At least they shuld leave the funny stuff t us.

      A. t find the funniest jke in Eurpean cuntries
      B. t get mre persnal details abut participants

      B. scientists have cllected enugh evidence t make final cnclusins
      C. men and wmen have similar senses f humur
      D. jkes created by cmputers are less amusing t peple
      30. What is the best title fr the passage?
      A. Funny r nt?B. Laugh luder!

Sme peple might argue that these attacks were in fact cmmn in the past. But there were far mre tigers arund in thse days. S, t sme extent, attacks appear t have been as rare then as they are tday.
Peple think it is because f fears, but what exactly are tigers afraid f? Can they really knw that we may be even better armed than they are? Surely nt. Has the species prgrammed the experiences f all tigers with humans int its genes t be inherited as instinct? Perhaps. But I think the explanatin may be simpler and, in a way, mre interesting.
I suspect that a tiger’s fear f humans lies in the way he actually bserves us visually. Imagine a tiger sees a man wh is 1.8 meters tall. A tiger is less than 1 meter tall but he may be up t 3 meters lng frm head t tail. S when a tiger sees the man face n, it might nt be unreasnable fr him t assume that the man is 6 meters lng. If he met a deer f this size, he might attack the animal by leaping n its back, but when he lks behind the man, he can’t see a back. Frm the frnt the man is huge, but lked at frm the side he all but disappears. This must be very disturbing. A hunter has t be cnfident that it can kill its prey, and n ne is cnfident when they are discncerted.
The ppsite is true f a squatting human. A squatting human is half the size and presents twice the spread f back, and appears like a medium-sized deer. Many incidents f attacks n peple invlve villagers bending ver t cut grass. The fact that humans stand upright may nt just distinguish them frm ther species, but als help them t survive in an unpredictable envirnment.
      31. As fr sme peple’s pinin n tiger attacks, the authr is ________.
      A. bjectiveB. uncncernedC. supprtiveD. disapprving
      32. Why des the authr raise three questins in Paragraph 3?
      A. T present assumptins.B. T evaluate arguments.
      C. T questin findings.D. T cnfirm pinins.
      33. What des the underlined wrd “discncerted” in Paragraph 4 prbably mean?
      A. Cnfused.B. Annyed.C. Depressed.D. Surprised.
      34. What can we learn frm the last tw paragraphs?
      A. It is the genes that cause the tiger’s fear f humans.
      B. It is hard fr a tiger t make ut the shape f humans.
      C. Tigers sense the danger the mment they spt humans.
      D. Tigers are less cnfident when facing squatting humans.

If yu enjy walking fr exercise, there’s a simple way t meet yur demand—change yur walk int a ruck. And it’s an increasingly ppular frm f exercise.
Rucking is walking with weight n yur back. The term “rucking” cmes frm ruck marching, a cre skill used by the military arund the wrld. One f the tests the army nrmally gives t sldiers is a 12-mile ruck, which they must cmplete within three hurs while carrying a weight f at least 35 punds.
The reasn why rucking is grwing in ppularity is that it’s an easy and all-bdy exercise. One study in 2019 shwed that 10 weeks f weighted walking imprved physical perfrmance. Since rucking is usually perfrmed utdrs, there is n dubt that it’s als gd fr yur mental health. Lts f studies suggest that the mental health benefits f being in a natural envirnment are huge.
There are several tips fr yur rucking when yu get started. First, dn’t be t eager. As with any new exercise, yu’ll need t begin slwly. Start with an empty backpack and walk a distance yu’ve already dne. When yu start adding weight t yur pack, try smething lw, like 10% f yur bdy weight. Adding weight is ging t put mre stress n yur ankles, knees, hips and back, s d it gradually. Anther ptin is t start with a weighted vest instead f a backpack. This spreads the weight between yur frnt and back. And f curse, dn’t frget yur feet. Select a cmfrtable pair f shes t prevent getting hurt.
      40. What is rucking?
      ______________________________________________________________
      41. Why is rucking ppular?
      ______________________________________________________________
      42. Please decide which part is false in the fllwing statement, then underline it and explain why.
➢ When yu start adding weight t yur pack, yu can try any weight yu like.
      ______________________________________________________________
      43. Besides what are mentined in the text, what ther benefits can rucking have n us? (In abut 40 wrds)
      ______________________________________________________________
40. Walking with weight n yur back.
      41. It’s an easy and all-bdy exercise.
      42. When yu start adding weight t yur pack, yu can try any weight yu like.
Accrding t Paragraph 4, it says that when yu start adding weight t yur pack, yu can try smething lw, like 10% f yur bdy weight, nt any weight yu like.
      43. Rucking can significantly imprve heart health. Just like jgging, regular rucking makes the heart wrk harder and strnger. It als aids in stress relief. The fresh air and natural beauty during utdr rucking help us relax and clear ur minds.
根据文章第二段“Rucking is walking with weight n yur back.(负重行走是在背上负重行走)”可知,负重行走就是在背上负重行走,故答案为Rucking is walking with weight n yur back。
根据文章第三段“The reasn why rucking is grwing in ppularity is that it’s an easy and all-bdy exercise. One study in 2019 shwed that 10 weeks f weighted walking imprved physical perfrmance. Since rucking is usually perfrmed utdrs, there is n dubt that it’s als gd fr yur mental health(负重行走越来越受欢迎的原因是它是一种简单且全身的锻炼。2019年的一项研究表明,10周的负重行走可以改善身体表现。由于负重行走通常在户外进行,毫无疑问,它对心理健康也有好处)”可知,负重行走之所以受欢迎,是因为它是一种简单且全身的锻炼,可以改善身体表现,对心理健康也有好处,故答案为Rucking is ppular because it’s an easy and all-bdy exercise that imprves physical perfrmance and is gd fr mental health。
根据文章倒数第二段“When yu start adding weight t yur pack, try smething lw, like 10% f yur bdy weight. Adding weight is ging t put mre stress n yur ankles, knees, hips and back, s d it gradually(当你开始给背包增加重量时,尝试一些低重量,比如你体重的10%。增加重量会对你的脚踝、膝盖、臀部和背部施加更多的压力,所以要逐渐增加)”可知,开始增加重量时,不能随意选择重量,应该从低重量开始,逐渐增加,以免受伤。因此,题干中的“yu can try any weight yu like(你可以尝试任何你喜欢的重量)”的表述是错误的,故答案为When yu start adding weight t yur pack, yu can try any weight yu like. Explanatin: This statement is false because yu shuld start with a lw weight, such as 10% f yur bdy weight, and add weight gradually t avid injury。
根据文章第三段“The reasn why rucking is grwing in ppularity is that it’s an easy and all-bdy exercise. One study in 2019 shwed that 10 weeks f weighted walking imprved physical perfrmance. Since rucking is usually perfrmed utdrs, there is n dubt that it’s als gd fr yur mental health(负重行走越来越受欢迎的原因是它是一种简单且全身的锻炼。2019年的一项研究表明,10周的负重行走可以改善身体表现。由于负重行走通常在户外进行,毫无疑问,它对心理健康也有好处)”可知,负重行走之所以受欢迎,是因为它是一种简单且全身的锻炼,可以改善身体表现,对心理健康也有好处。根据常识,除了这些好处之外,负重行走还可以改善心血管健康,增加耐力,并为像跑步这样的高冲击运动提供一个低冲击的替代方案,故答案为Rucking can als imprve cardivascular health, increase endurance, and prvide a lw-impact alternative t high-impact exercises like running。

      Hi Paul,
I read yur pst and can cmpletely relate t it. I’ve been in exactly the same situatin — I even did a jurnalism curse, just like yu. S here are my thughts.
Yu say “I’m nt a creative persn”. Lk — everyne’s creative. If yu tell yurself yu’re nt creative, yu’ll easily start t believe it. S, the first thing t d is: stp thinking like that. Peple smetimes talk abut“thinking utside the bx”. Actually, the bx is the way we’ve been brught up t see prblems. A central difficulty in ur ability t think utside the bx is that we must always have a “right” answer, which limits creative thinking. S, try t stp seeing things as “right” r “wrng”.
Anther prblem is that we ften find faults with ur wn ideas befre we give them a chance t grw. While yu’ re thinking, just try t brainstrm ideas in an enjyable way — then chse the best ideas later.
And dn’t wrry abut lking stupid. If yu try an idea and ther peple laugh at yur idea, that’s their prblem, nt yurs. Try t lk at the curse as a way t have fun. Wrk hard, dn’t hld yurself back, d everything with great interest, and yu’ll be fine.
Anyway, enugh frm me. I hpe these ideas help.
