The beach may seem like an inviting place t run n a cl summer mrning, but is running n the sand gd fr yur bdy? It can be, but it’s imprtant t be aware f the challenges that sme beach runners experience befre yu get ready.

But this unevenness has an upside: It gives yur bdy an extra wrkut, frcing yu t exercise muscles that dn’t get as much use during runs n firm surfaces. Fr example, yur feet, ankles and lwer back might feel mre tired than usual after a beach run just because the surface is cnstantly mving and changing step t step.
Yu als might feel sre afterward because beaches tend t slpe (倾斜) dwn t the water. If yu’re ging fr a lng run n the beach, yu might ntice that ne side f yur bdy might feel srer because yu’re putting mre pressure n it due t the slpe.
Sme beach runners prefer t run bareft — nt wearing anything n feet. Hwever, if yu’re nt used t bareft running, start slwly and dn’t run lng distances at first. That’s because running bareft uses mre different muscles than running with shes des, and it’s imprtant t strengthen these muscles and adapt (适应) yur feet. If yu want t run bareft and as lng as yu run carefully enugh int it, g fr it.
Running n the sand can be a smart chice fr yu, because running n sfter grund surfaces can reduce muscle damage.

D. Running n its uneven surface takes much effrt.
29. What des the underlined wrd “upside” in paragraph 2 prbably mean?
A. Errr.B. Effect.C. Advantage.D. Adventure.
30. What’s the authr’s attitude t bareft running?

Exams make us anxius. The silence f the hall; the ticking f the clck; the prud expressin f the persn sitting at the neighbring desk wh has finished 15 minutes early. It therefre seems hardly surprising that thse wh wrry abut taking tests d wrse than thse wh d nt.
What is, perhaps, surprising, accrding t research recently published by Maria Thebald, is that it is nt the pressure f the exam hall which causes the prblem. It is the pressure f review.
Dr. Thebald wrked with 309 students wh were preparing fr their final state exam, the mst imprtant that they take. During the 100 days befre that, the students used a digital-learning platfrm which presented them with ld exam questins and recrded their perfrmance. They als sat a mck exam (模拟考) 40 days befre the real thing. T knw their levels f anxiety, they were asked every day including the days f the mck and the real exam t give themselves 1-5 pints t questins like “Hw much d I feel tense and nervus?”
Dr. Thebald fund that anxiety n the day f the test did nt predict (预测) exam perfrmance at all. What predicted it was the level f knwledge a student shwed in the mck and the earlier digital-learning activities. Thse wh perfrmed well in these als did well in the real thing, n matter hw anxius they were n the day. What actually affected students, it turned ut, were high levels f anxiety during the weeks befre the exam tk place. The greater a student’s anxiety n the days befre the exam, the lwer his r her knwledge-gain was during that perid, leaving that student with less material t review during the exam itself.
T reduce the anxiety, Dr. Thebald suggests a tw-fld strategy fr students. First, they can raise their belief in their wn abilities by reminding themselves f just hw much they knw. Secnd, they can reduce the imprtance f the test by reminding themselves that, while it is imprtant, it is nt a life-r-death situatin.
32. What causes pr exam results accrding t the research?
A. The passing time.B. The prud neighbr.
C. The quiet exam hall.D. The stressful review.
33. What is paragraph 3 mainly abut?
A. Wh did the research.B. Hw the research was dne.
C. What was fund in the research.D. Where the research was carried ut.
34. When des anxiety mst affect exam perfrmance?
A. On the day f the real exam.
B. When students take the mck exam.
C. During the days befre practice tests.
D. While students study befre the real exam.
35. What des Dr. Thebald advise students t d?
A. Build up self-cnfidence.B. Avid talking abut the exam.
C. Study harder befre the exam.D. Attach great imprtance t tests.
