      The ancient silk rad was a nce-in-a-lifetime jurney. It was ne f the mst imprtant milestnes (里程碑) f trade and culture in wrld histry, and the pineer, Zhang Qian, culd nt be easily frgtten by histry. He was an excellent diplmat (外交家), traveler and explrer (探险家) in the Han Dynasty f China, remembered as “the first Chinese t pen their eyes t see the wrld” and “the Clumbus (哥伦布) f the east”.
      In 138 BC, Zhang Qian was sent t the west f China fr an alliance with the Yue-zhi peple t fight against the Xingnu. He started his trip frm Chang’an t Lngxi. But unluckily, Zhang was caught by the Xingnu peple just as he left Han, and was held prisner (囚犯) fr ten years.
      Zhang finally managed t run away with sme f his men and cntinued t travel west.
