      Middle schl student Jaquin invented a car seat alarm system t remind parents that their child is in the backseat. He did s after reading a shcking stry f a father whse baby died f heat strke after accidentally being left in a ht car. Jaquin felt smething had t be dne t prevent this.       A clsed car increased the surrunding temperature, leading t a sharper increase in temperature when parked in the sun and children verheat several times faster than adults. Of the 360 deaths caused by heat strke in cars in America in the last decade, mst were caused when a child was frgtten inside a car.
      This was why I designed an alarm t warn drivers f the case. T detect when a baby was in a car seat, I tried wrking with a weight sensr, but it prduced t many false signs. After mre research, I used a magnetic sensr, which culd be activated when the seat belt was clsed. If a driver lcked the car with the baby in, the car alarm system wuld start sunding, and the car wuld nt lck.
      I have participated in several science fair cmpetitins. STEM is the main surce f knwledge fr every field in the wrld and it needn’t be a cmplicated subject at schl. This is what first interested me, which changed the way I saw the wrld.
      Bradcm MASTERS has encuraged me t pursue STEM. When I was presenting my prject at Texas Science Fair 2017, the judges came by and I felt I failed.
