Althugh previus studies dcumented animal behavir in selected bais, n ne had cunted them r mapped their distributin. Ding s required taking t the sky. Partnering with African Parks, which manages Odzala, the team flew drnes ver sme f the 220 bais, gathering infrmatin. The researchers used this infrmatin t train an AI mdel that culd pick ut bais frm satellite images. Fr a study, Hckridge and Nguma mapped all the bais in a natinal park and fund 2,176 f them — 10 times mre than the park management had previusly knwn.
Bais, always lcated near rivers r streams, are islands f resurces, and animals prduce trails t essentially navigate t and frm the bais. The researchers’ map f bais is als a map f cnservatin pririties, since a huge prtin f the animal cmmunity depends n this unique ecsystem.
N ne has ever dcumented hw bais frmed. Nw, with a map and camera traps, the research team is ging t track lng-term changes, meaning t maintain these crucial animal habitats.

故填an。
故填which。

故填have been published。
故填as。
故填t have。
