    After a very lud gunsht, Miss Prss slwly pened her eyes. The rm was silent, save fr the faint ech f the gunfire. She felt disriented and instinctively reached fr Lucie, wh std beside her, trembling. T her hrrr, she saw Madame Defarge lying mtinless n the flr, the weapn that had threatened their lives nw fallen frm her grip. The realizatin f what had transpired weighed heavily n Miss Prss.
