Electric vehicles (EVs) nw are nt practical fr lng-distance travel due t the need fr repeated r lengthy stps at charging statins. But what if they culd — like planes being refueled in the air frm anther aircraft — get a charge-n-the-g?
The idea sunds impssible, but there are already technlgies in use that wuld help charge specialized vehicles. With rural electric charging statins almst nn-existent, Swarup Bhunia and engineers at the University f Flrida, Gainesville, are suggesting that “car-t-car charging” and “mbile charging statins” culd likely slve this prblem faster than the sudden increase f charging pints r battery advancements.
Alng with mbile charging statins idea, Bhunia believes that if mre and mre peple buy electric cars, it wuld be super-efficient if all cars n rad culd share charge with ne anther. What Bhunia and his team are describing is a clud system that examines all f the EV drivers n the rad, where they are ging, and hw much charge each vehicle has. The clud then determines, fr example, that EV-A has an 89% battery charge, but requires nly 4% t reach its destinatin, while EV-B has a 22% battery charge, yet requires 31% t reach its destinatin. If the tw EVs are ging in the same directin, the system wuld instruct them t carry ut the charge transfer. The system wuld then link the prvider with the receiver, and a credit system wuld ensure that everyne is paying fr the charge they use.
Inside the given traffic netwrk every vehicled charge culd be examined against each vehicle’s demand, and “mbile charging statins,’’ which wuld be large autmated trucks with nbard charging equipment t fill in the demand gaps.
“We imagine a safe and firm telescpic arm (伸缩臂) carrying the charging cable,’’ said Bhunia, describing hw t get ne charge int anther car while running dwn the freeway, much like t aircraft during mid-air refueling. After tw EVs lck speed and are in range fr charge sharing, they will extend their charging arms.
8. T realize lng-distance travel fr EVs faster Bhunia agrees with .
A. stps at charging statinsB. mbile charging statins.
C. increase f charging pintsD. battery advancements
9. Accrding t the text, the clud system can .

B. figure ut hw much charge a car need t reach its destinatin
C. wrk ut the prblems drivers meet when a charge transfer ccurs
D. guarantee that all the drivers are paying fr the charge they get
10. What are mbile charging statins?
A. Pwer plants fr the charge transfer.B. Charging equipment t fill in the charge gaps.
C. Vehicles prviding charge fr ther cars.D. Trucks getting charges frm ther vehicles.
11. Which f the fllwing can be the best title fr the text?
A. Can we charge EVs with car-t-car mbile charging?
B. Can charging pints be a pssible way t charge EVs?
C. Hw des a clud system make charging EVs easier?
