While teens generally acknwledge that scial media helps them keep up with their friends, arund 45% f them say they feel trubled by the drama they ften encunter, accrding t Pew Research Center. Rughly fur in 10 teenagers say they feel pressure t pst nly things that shw them in a psitive light r that generate a lt f cmments r likes.
Many teens even take vluntary breaks frm scial media, accrding t a study cnducted by the Assciated Press and NORC Center fr Public Affairs Research at the University f Chicag. Abut half f teens say their scial-media breaks are typically a week r lnger.

Still, the fear f missing ut usually draws them back. Or, as ne f the fur students tld me, "It kind f gets a little lnely after a while."

Unemplyment is a significant prblem in many develping cuntries. Withut steady wrk, individuals struggle t rise ut f pverty, and the cmmunity as a whle als misses ut. Many unemplyed peple culd have dne much gd thrugh their labur if they had been given the pprtunity t cntribute. Wrse, withut pprtunities fr prper emplyment, yung peple smetimes turn t crime and vilence in rder t prvide fr themselves. Thus, giving peple pprtunities t wrk is essential fr the cmmunity’s well-being.
Educatin plays a vital rle in equipping peple fr certain jbs, but many yung peple find that even if they are qualified, the jbs are just nt there. This was the situatin that Rwandan entrepreneur (企业家) Nel Nizeyimana faced. When he graduated frm university with a degree in sil and envirnmental science, he sent ut applicatin after applicatin but received n jb ffers, s he turned t creating his wn business. With three f his clleagues, he funded Greencare Rwanda Ltd., a cmpany that transfrms waste int prducts that can be used fr varius purpses. Fr example, ne f the cmpany’s prgrams prcesses waste and turns it int rganic fertilizer used by lcal farmers. The cmpany has als expanded int plastic recycling and prduces paving materials frm sand and plastic. Thus, Greencare Rwanda is prviding materials fr ther industries as well.
Greencare Rwanda Ltd. was able t get ff the grund largely due t funds it received frm the UN Yuth Jint Prgramme. This prgram is an attempt t reach the UN’s sustainable develpment gal f "decent wrk and ecnmic grwth." The assistance definitely helped Greencare, which nw prduces 400 tns f fertilizer and 2,560 square meters f paving materials per year. It als emplys 25 peple, which shws that helping peple start businesses prvides wrk fr mre than just the persn wh receives the funds.
All this raises the questin f what mre can be dne t empwer yung peple t start their wn businesses. Prviding funds t cver the initial csts, as the UN Yuth Jint Prgramme did fr Nizeyimana, is certainly imprtant as the starting csts fr businesses can be extremely high. Gvernments are smetimes hesitant t prvide funds t startups because success is nt guaranteed. Starting a business is risky, and nbdy wants t waste mney, but experts warn that gvernments shuld nt enfrce t many requirements. Different regins will need different appraches, s trying t enfrce a set f ne size fits all requirements can run cunter t the desire.
While there are ther ways t address unemplyment, encuraging yung business wners is ne f the mst effective — especially when thse businesses prduce gds that genuinely help lcal cmmunities.
8.What is paragraph 1 mainly abut?
A.The rle f the gvernment in creating jb pprtunities.
B.The imprtance f educatin fr reducing unemplyment rates.
C.The necessity f prviding wrk pprtunities t prevent crime.
D.The cnsequences f unemplyment n individuals and cmmunities.

A.why setting gals fr the yuths is necessary
B.hw the supprt frm the UN prgramme wrks
C.internatinal funding’s success acrss all industries

Health care is a necessity fr everyne, but nt everyne has equal access t it. Peple in rural cmmunities in particular face barriers t medical care that d nt affect peple in cities. This is true bth in develped cuntries and in the develpments and nnprfit rganizatins are wrking t address the 1 .
One barrier t rural health care is 2 . Rural cmmunities are 3 far frm ppulatin centers, which means mst small twns d nt have large hspitals, s rural peple need t travel lng distances t see dctrs. Rural areas als usually lack public transprtatin, which wrsens the prblem.
Even if there is a hspital in a rural cmmunity, dctrs ften prefer t live in larger cities, s finding 4 can be challenging. Rural hspitals especially tend t lack specialists. Since each specialist nly sees a small prtin f the ttal number f patients, many hspitals 5 that they d nt have enugh patients wh need the specialist t emply ne. 6 , the patients wh d need the specialist are frced t travel lng distances r g withut necessary treatment. In additin, in many cuntries, peple in rural areas are mre likely t live in pverty and struggle t pay fr health care than urban residents.
A variety f develpments may help 7 sme f these prblems. One significant ne is telehealth—using technlgy such as vide cnferences t allw patients t speak with dctrs in 8 . Using telehealth, dctrs cannt run tests r examine patients up clse. The technlgy, 9 , can be useful fr mental health care, fllw-up appintments after surgery and the mnitring f enduring health issues.
Smetimes if patients cannt travel t a clinic, the clinic will g t them. 10 health clinics are used in sme areas t reach peple wh have truble ging t see a dctr. These traveling health units are ften 11 than hspitals as well because they d nt pay fr as many facilities.
Small rural hspitals that lack financial resurces smetimes cnsider 12 larger netwrks that have access t better technlgy. These larger netwrks can als help rural hspitals bring n bard new staff.
Sme cuntries try t mtivate dctrs t wrk in rural areas, ffering slightly higher salaries r ther benefits t thse willing t 13 utside cities. They may als reward hspitals based n effectiveness in helping patients, 14 paying hspitals based n the number f prcedures they perfrm. This culd reduce csts fr patients.
While the prblem f rural healthcare is 15 , these initiatives may help prvide necessary treatment fr peple utside majr cities.

    The benefits f cntainer gardening
D yu lve gardening, but yu dn’t have a yard? If that’s the case,① (take) cntainer gardening int cnsideratin. This methd invlves② (grw) plants in pts and cntainers rather than in the grund. Cntainer gardening is a great way t grw flwers, herbs, vegetables, fruit trees and mre. There are many advantages t this gardening methd.

The key is t chse a spt that receives a gd deal f sunlight.
Unless they’re t big r heavy, cntainers are prtable. This allws yu t mve yur plants inside if necessary. Or yu can mve yur plants int the shade④ extremely ht days. Cntainers allw yu t place yur plants⑤ they’ll grw best.
With cntainers, yu’re almst certain⑥ (fill) them with prductive sil. Using a gd bag f ptting sil that cntains the necessary nutrients fr yur plants is best. Here’s an imprtant tip: Once⑦ (stuff), large cntainers can get heavy. Therefre, it’s best t put them at a prper place befre filling them.
One f the greatest benefits f cntainer gardening is that little r n weeding⑧ (require). Fr plants in the grund, weeding is smetimes a daily r weekly requirement.

Sense f smell that seems impssible
Hw d we smell durs (气味)? The answer is that the lfactry bulb, a structure at the frnt f the brain, plays a vital rle in ur ability t smell. Or, at least, s we thught. Researchers have nw discvered a(n)① FORMTEXT f wmen wh have a perfectly nrmal sense f smell but wh seem t lack lfactry bulbs.
The team, including Tali Weiss and Nam Sbel at the Sunshine Institute f Science in U. S., say a lack f lfactry bulbs is unusual but nt② FORMTEXT : ne in 10,000 peple dn’t have them, but we had believed nne culd smell.
Hwever, in the curse f a study int pssible links between ability t smell and reprductin, the team happened acrss a 29-year-ld wman wh was different: she lacked lfactry bulbs but③ FORMTEXT that her sense f smell remained very gd.
Every test the researchers threw at her④ FORMTEXT that she did indeed have a gd ability t distinguish durs, despite lacking the lfactry bulb typically believed necessary t d s. The team⑤ FORMTEXT the scpe f its investigatin, and fund mre wmen like this, but n men at all.
The researchers were able t estimate the⑥ FORMTEXT f being a wman wh can smell nrmally withut these brain structures t be abut 0.6 per cent. Strangely, the prbability f this happening is raised⑦ FORMTEXT in left-handed wmen. Amng peple wh are left-handed, wmen wh lack lfactry bulbs have a rughly 4 per cent chance f still being able t smell⑧ FORMTEXT .
Sbel says this may be further prf as t hw⑨ FORMTEXT the brain is: if it lacks lfactry bulbs, it can recgnise itself s ther brain regins take n the task f dur⑩ FORMTEXT . Alternatively, the discveries might hint that we knw less abut ur ability t smell than we thught.
    29.
Machine identifies sngs frm peple’s brainwaves
Artificial intelligence has learned t identify the sngs smene is listening t frm their brain readings.
Derek Lmas at Delft University f Technlgy in the Netherlands and his clleagues asked 20 peple t listen t 12 sngs thrugh headphnes.① Each persn’s brainwaves were recrded using an EEG (脑电图) cap that detects electrical activity.
The EEG readings frm each persn were cut int shrt pieces and used alng with the matching music clip t train an AI t spt patterns between the tw. ② But the sftware struggles if it is trained n EEG data frm ne persn and then attempts t identify a sng when smene else listens t it. Accuracy in such tests fell t less than ne in every ten attempts.
③ And peple tend t fcus n different elements f the music during training. Ultimately, hwever, they aim t identify aspects f EEG respnses t music that are cmmn t all humans.
④ “I think it’s really stimulating t think abut hw the cmbinatin f machine learning and high-density (高密度的) data frm EEG can be cmbined t bring insights int mving emtinal experiences, but als t figure ut what’s ging n inside yur head,” he says.
Music is ultimately "just electrical signals," he says. "And it’s the same with the EEG."
    A. Lmas hpes that this will further ur understanding f the brain, as well as bst knwledge f hw and why humans cnsume music.
    B. The AI was then tested n unseen prtins f the data, identifying sngs with a precisin f 85 per cent.
    C. The experiment was cnducted t determine if AI culd replace human musicians.
    D. This suggests that the AI’s ability t identify sngs highly depends n the individual’s brain activity.
    E. The vlunteers did this blindflded and in a faintly lit rm t minimise the effect f their ther senses n the results.
    F. The researchers believe that this is due t each persn’s preference twards a sng being unique.
    30.
Directins: Read the fllwing passage. Summarize in n mre than 60 wrds the main idea f the passage and hw it is illustrated. Use yur wn wrds as far as pssible.
    The rle f siblings(兄弟姐妹)
It’s cmmn knwledge that the family a child grws up in has a huge influence n the child’s attitudes, beliefs and mental health. Peple usually think that the child’s parents are respnsible fr this influence, but relatinships with brthers and sisters are just as imprtant. Siblings prvide children with a unique pprtunity t practice interacting with their peers, rather than authrity figures. Althugh friendships can have similar effects, relatinships with siblings ffer sme unique advantages.
During childhd, siblings see each ther every day and spend mre time with each ther than with anyne else, sharing experiences that last all their lives. Siblings are als frced t persevere in their relatinships with each ther even if they have a falling ut. This frces children t practice cnflict reslutin skills since they cannt leave the familial relatinship, as they culd with a friend. But a sibling relatinship als ffers a safe place t discuss difficult tpics withut fear f abandnment. Mrever, lder siblings ften teach their yunger brthers and sisters abut life. They can cnvey useful skills and advice, but they can als set bad examples, leading their yunger siblings t d things that are wrng r flish.
Once children grw up, they d nt see their siblings as ften as befre since they usually n lnger live tgether. Maintaining sibling relatinships nw takes wrk, and if siblings d nt get alng, they can avid each ther. But many sibling relatinships imprve in yung adulthd as the siblings mature. Smetimes the distance helps siblings enjy each ther’s cmpany when they d meet.
Relatinships between siblings vary depending n the ages and persnalities f the children invlved. Even the best sibling relatinships invlve sme disagreements, but a strng relatinship can survive such cnflicts. Cnsidering the rle f siblings thrughut ur lives, it’s critical t take the time t cultivate psitive relatinships with siblings.

先行词是前面整个句子a sunny, indr kitchen windwsill (窗沿)is perfect fr a few small plants,在从句中作主语,引导非限定性定语从句用which。故填which。
Wden bxes, cans, tea kettles, ld shes and mre will wrk.

故选I。
故选A。

The EEG readings frm each persn were cut int shrt pieces and used alng with the matching music clip t train an Al t spt patterns between the tw.(每个人的脑电图读数被切成一小段,与匹配的音乐片段一起使用,以训练人工智能识别两者之间的模式)以及后文But the sftware struggles if it is trained n EEG data frm ne persn and then attempts t identify a sng when smene else listens t it. Accuracy in such tests fell t less than ne in every ten attempts.(但是,如果软件是根据一个人的脑电图数据进行训练,然后试图在其他人听这首歌时识别出这首歌,它就会陷入困境。
But the sftware struggles if it is trained n EEG data frm ne persn and then attempts t identify a sng when smene else listens t it. Accuracy in such tests fell t less than ne in every ten attempts.(但是,如果软件是根据一个人的脑电图数据进行训练,然后试图在其他人听这首歌时识别出这首歌,它就会陷入困境。 And peple tend t fcus n different elements f the music during training. Ultimately, hwever, they aim t identify aspects f EEG respnses t music that are cmmn t all humans.(在训练中,人们倾向于关注音乐的不同元素。
I think it's really stimulating t think abut hw the cmbinatin f machine learning and high-density (高密度的)data frm EEG can be cmbined t bring insights int mving emtinal experiences. But als t figure ut what's ging n inside yur head, "he says.(他说: "我认为,想到机器学习和脑电图的高密度数据如何结合起来,不仅能洞察移动的情感体验,还能弄清楚你的大脑里在想什么,这真的很令人兴奋。")
