活动一:识别过去分词(SB,P54,Part 1)
1.Let students lk at the fllwing sentences and underline the past participles.
(1)Brn in the USA n 2 January 1970, Whitacre began studying music at the University f Nevada in 1988.
(2)Mved by this music, he said,“It was like seeing clr fr the first time.”
2.Ask students t find mre f them in the text, and discuss their functins in pairs.
【设计意图】通过识别、寻找、讨论三大步骤,教师适当讲解,学生初步认识过去分词的构成和作用。
活动二:理解过去分词的用法(SB,P54,Part 2)
l Let students read the fllwing sentence using past participles as the adverbial.
The Silver Hall is usually used fr singing perfrmances and is full f cheers and energy. →Usually used fr singing perfrmances, the Silver Hall is full f cheers and energy.
2.Ask students t rewrite the stry using past participles as the adverbial.
(1)Henry was highly interested in music and began t write riginal cmpsitins when he was in high schl.
(2)They were pleased with his music and sngs and finally invited him t perfrm in the Silver Hall.
(3)Thughhe was affected by gradual blindness sn after the perfrmance, Henry was still capable f writing cmpsitins and he fund that creating music was a relief and cure fr his illness.
(4)When he gt absrbed in his wrld f music, he felt as if he culd “see” the beauty f the wrld arund him, like he had in his previus life.
3.Let students find ut the differences in meaning and functin between the newly written sentences and the riginal nes.
