    Every summer, thusands f endangered green sea turtles climb nt beaches arund the wrld. Each mther sea turtle prduces 100 r mre eggs in a hle, and cvers the hle with sand befre she swims away.
    Tw mnths later, the eggs hatch, and the baby turtles climb ut f the sand and swim int the cean. They dn’t reappear until they have grwn as large as dinner plates. Until nw,n ne knws where the baby turtles g r what they d.

    Her teacher,Karen Bjmdal,has studied green sea turtles fr mre than 30 years. Every year, Bjmdal ges t the Bahamas Islands. Many yung sea turtles cme here t live and eat at the end f their childhd.
    These turtles are the nly sea turtles that live as plant eaters. In fact, their name may be a result f what they eat. The turtles dn’t lk green but they d have green fat. Scientists learned that the turtles eat green sea plants, which may turn their fat green.
    Between 2002 and 2004,Bjmdal caught 44 green sea turtles in the Bahamas. After testing them,she fund smething t supprt the 20-year-ld idea: baby green sea turtles eat meat befre they turn t a diet f plants. In fact, they eat animals that live in the pen cean.
