Changing home
A lot of birds change homes twice every year. We call it bird migration. Like wild geese, swans and cranes.
In spring, the wild geese fly to the north. In autumn, they fly to the south. They live in the south in winter. Why do wild geese move? In winter, they cannot find enough food in the north.
Qinghai Lake is in the west of China. There are a lot of swans. They fly from north to south in October. Because it is very cold in the north. Many visitors come to Qinghai Lake to see them in winter. How beautiful they are! In March, they fly to the north again. They change their home again.
In the east of China, there are many cranes. Their necks and legs are thin. They fly to the south in winter. When spring comes, they miss their home in the north and fly back.

The Chens’ new home is not far from Mr. Chen’s school. It only takes them 20 minutes by bus. And it takes Mrs. Chen 15 minutes to her hospital by ofo.

Part I单元教学设计说明
一、解析基本要求,落实教学目标
教学基本要求指出:语言学习需要大量的输入和积累,也要和日常生活紧密结合。《牛津英语》5A Module 2的教学主题是:Me, my family and friends。分为三个教学单元:Grandparents, Friends和Moving home。三个教学单元的内容作为体现Me, my family and friends的载体,通过学生熟悉的生活化主题“我与我的家庭和朋友”,引导学生用英语介绍或谈论有关祖父母、朋友、以及乔迁后新家的情况。
牛津英语教材各年段都有关于表示方位的相关内容,对于本单元的话题,学生已经有了不同程度的接触与了解,并且具备了一定的语言知识和技能,如能用There be…等句型简单介绍周边环境,以及I can… . I like… . 表达自己的能力和喜好。
本单元的主题为Moving home,共有7个板块。其中Look and say,Say and act内容涉及人类,Look and read的内容涉及动物,需要找出其中的关联处。
本单元的主题是Moving home。如何精准阐释主题中的核心词汇Home是单元整体设计中思索的首要因素。教师不是教教材,而是用教材教,在进行单元内容统整的过程中,教师从动物Changing home出发。在观察鸟类迁徙的过程中,发现鸟类需要搬家是由于北方南方的气候特征,然后再迁移到人类搬家,例如the Chens。通过观察搬家的理由领悟Moving home。在最后一课时引发孩子们幻想自己的Dream home。
二、基于单元整体,关注过程体验
脱离了语境的语言学习是没有意义的,语言需融入语境之中,才能显示出活力和美感,强调“语”与“境”的融合。
本单元的核心句型是Wh- question句型的特殊疑问句:Why…? Because…学生能运用特殊疑问句提问并做出回答。
基于教材所提供的主题、语言材料、图片情境和生活实际,对本单元的教学内容进行整合,设计三个话题,依托语境开展本单元整体教学。
Period 1:Changing home——通过wild geese的迁徙向学生介绍动物会因为生活的需求而要迁徙。知晓理解核心句型Why…? Because…的基本结构。要求语音语调准确,表达流利,内容较完整。
Period 2:Moving home——通过the Chens一家人的职业和个性,讨论对新家的感觉以及理由,热爱家庭。知道核心句型Why…? Because…的运用。要求语音语调基本准确,内容达意,表达较流利。
Period 3:My dream home——由一则太空酒店的新闻呈现陈氏家三个孩子对dream home的憧憬,运用核心语言有条理地介绍梦想的家。要求内容完整、口头表达流利、书面表达基本正确。
通过三个课时语用任务的逐步推进,帮助学生最终达成单元语用任务,即: 在My dream home的语境中,结合已学语言知识,借助板书及语言框架,对dream home进行口头和书面介绍,并简述理由。
Part II单课教学设计说明
一、 基于学情的语境创设
作为外国语学校,学生通过校本课程Happy Go!Super speaker show等一系列活动,有较多的表演展示机会,这不仅培养了他们良好的语音语调和语感,同时在用英语进行交流时更加自信。本课教师借助视频、音频、设计了与学生学习水平相当的语言材料,为了展示孩子自己的内心世界,从孩子的视角出发,在轻松的语言学习环境中,畅想自己的dream home。
二、 基于话题的内容整合
《义务教育英语课程标准》(2011年版)指出,“在教学中,教学要善于根据教学的需要,对教材加以适当的补充和调整”。基于课标和教材,基于学情,将本单元划分为三课时,紧扣本单元主题Moving home,设定三个分课时话题:Changing home,Moving home,My dream home。本课时为第三课时,教师通过整合学生已知的语言知识将教材内容转变为教学内容,对教材加以适当调整。文本语言充分体现孩子们不同的个性Peter is a sporty boy. He wants to live in space. Paul is a naughty boy. He wants to live in the sea. Sally is a friendly girl. She wants to live in the countryside. 学生对自己的dream home的幻想是极具个性色彩的。
三、 基于目标的过程推进
1. Pre-task preparation :巩固旧知,创设语境
通过homework checking,学生对自己家的floor plan进行简单描述,从而复现核心词汇和句型。
2. While-task procedure:问题引领,语用体验
通过Where do you want to live? Why? 两个问题的设计分层推进文本内容,学生通过不同形式的语言训练,围绕话题扮演虚拟人物,运用核心句型和已学语言知识描述自己的dream home,并简述其理由。在寻找Paul’s and Sally’s dream home 的过程中,教师巧妙地利用jigsaw reading,提升学生合作、自主学习意识,获取信息,提升学生阅读能力。
