Are you good with money? I learned to be careful with it during my childhood. My father would give me some pocket money and tell me it should last for a whole week. So, I learned I had to save some if I didn’t want to run out of cash quickly. No surprise there: my dad was an accountant!
It’s never too early to become money savvy. That’s what British personal finances expert Martin Lewis thinks. He is part of a successful campaign to include financial education on the school lessons in England. It will be planted in maths and citizenship education. This includes children from 5 to 16 years old. Lewis says: “We eagerly need to break the cycle of financial illiteracy(无知) in the UK” Lewis has made millions from his website which advises people to be saving and refuses any suggestion that he is tight. The expert says in an interview with the English newspaper the Daily Express: “The better you are with your cash, the better your life can be. People think I am telling them to stop spending money but I am simply telling them to spend it wisely.” The British say ‘take care of the pennies and the pounds will take care of themselves’. It means you have to watch your daily expenses and not just the big purchases in your life such as houses.
Being careful with money pays off. Banks in Britain recently found themselves having to make up for a large number of people who were persuaded to part with their cash and buy insurance policies (保单)they didn’t need. Many wasted their money on investments(投资) which were not for them. Few have the patience to read the small print.
24.The underlined words “money savvy” in Paragraph 2 refers to _______.
A.a person who is crazy about money
B.a person who is good with money
C.a person who is careless with money
D.a person who has nothing to do with money
25.What’s Martin Lewis’ attitude towards becoming money savvy?
A.It’s no good. B.It is never too late.
C.The earlier, the better. D.It’s not helpful.
26.What do we know about Martin Lewis from Paragraph 2?
A.Martin Lewis is a maths teacher good at financial education.
B.Martin Lewis is a successful personal finances expert.
C.Martin Lewis is an expert making his fortune in interviews.
D.Martin Lewis is careful with his pennies in purchasing houses.
27.What do we learn from the last paragraph?
A.Banks in Britain were eager to have people part with their cash.
B.Buying insurance policies means you are careful with money.
C.People are unwilling to spend their money on some investments.
D.People are easy to miss the small print on insurance policies.

Machine ethics is a new field of research that aims to develop moral machines. It's all about creating machines that can make moral decisions based on computer technology. If artificial intelligence (AI) is to be used in the context of machine ethics, then similarly one can all it "Artificial Morality" (AM).
While AI's goal is to model people's cognitive abilities, AM is about equipping artificial systems with the ability for moral judgment and action.
One field of application for moral machines is the care of the elderly. Systems to be used in this context face moral choices like "should the system monitor the user around the clock and what should be done with the data collected?" It is about the privacy of the user and the care of the relatives. A second example of the need for moral machines is autonomous driving. Of particular difficulty are the moral dilemmas that may be encountered, such as the need to decide whether to sacrifice a small number of lives to save a larger number if unavoidable.
It could be argued, however, that it is not the care system or the autonomous car that make a moral choice in these cases, but the programmers of those devices. But as the advances in artificial intelligence become greater, developers are less able to plan and predict what decisions a system will make in a specific situation. For example, AlphaGo Zero, which first knows only the basic rules of the game Go and then finds the optimal decision-making strategies by playing through a large number of games against itself. In no time, this system beat its predecessor AlphaGo, the first artificial system to defeat some of the world's top human Go players.
Therefore, it is necessary to develop machines that have a degree of autonomous moral decision-making though the ethical basis of artificial systems is still not clear. Research groups in academia and in the industry should start thinking about the relevance of ethics and safety in AI.
28.Which of the following is true about AM?
A.It is a moral decision based on technology.
B.It aims to imitate people's cognitive abilities.
C.It enables AI to make moral decisions.
D.It gives advice to human on making decisions.
29.How does the writer illustrate the uses of AM?
A.By analyzing cause and effect. B.By raising questions.
C.By mentioning its advantages. D.By giving examples.
30.What does the writer say about the programmers behind moral machines?
A.They are the one virtually in charge of the machines
B.They are incapable of predicting decisions of the system.
C.They are the ones who advance artificial intelligence.
D.They can find the best decision-making strategies.
31.What is the best title of the passage?
A.Can and should machines act morally?
B.How and why machines make moral decisions?
C.What AM is and how it is influencing us?
D.How AM works and where its future lies?
D
“How beautiful the jasmine (茉莉花) is! A sweet smell covers the budding twigs. So fragrant (芳香的), so white, admired by all lips.” The Chinese folk song Jasmine Flower has reached a global audience with its beautiful melody and lyrics. Equally popular is the traditionally made Jasmine tea, which is tea scented (发出香味) with the smell of jasmine and typically has green tea as its base.
Chen Chengzhong has a big say in the production of Jasmine tea as he is a state-level expert of Fuzhou Jasmine tea scenting techniques. The 72-year-old tea maker, from Fuzhou City in East China’s Fujian province, started his career early in his teenage years as a trainee in a state-owned tea factory.
Chen can’t stop talking joyfully when it comes to jasmine tea scenting. The hot and wet climate and the red soil in East China’s Fujian province provide great conditions. He can’t forget summer nights, as jasmine usually comes out at night and it calls for hard work. When the fresh jasmine flowers are harvested, they are mixed with tea leaves. Leaves and flowers are being mixed overnight so the leaves can fully take in flowers’ fragrance. In the morning, the flowers are sorted, the leaves are dried, and the process is repeated. More repetition makes the fragrance stronger, and it takes at least nine times to produce jasmine tea of a superb grade.
Chen now focuses more on passing on the scenting techniques, giving lectures to students and trainees. Chen’s son Chen Zheng is meant to follow in his father’s footsteps and move forward with the techniques. “Like my father, I also hope to practice this traditional skill and pass it on,” Chen Zheng said.
China’s traditional tea making method was added to the UNESCO intangible cultural heritage list on Tuesday.
32.Why is the folk song mentioned in the first paragraph?
A.To provide examples. B.To introduce the topic.
C.To make comparisons. D.To support the argument.
33.What makes Chen an influential tea maker?
A.He has a say in growing jasmine. B.He starts his career half a century ago.
C.He owns a state-level tea factory now. D.He knows tea scenting techniques well.
34.Which word can replace the underlined word “sorted” in the third paragraph?
A.Separated. B.Dried. C.Raised. D.Harvested.
35.Which of the following best describes Chen?
A.Selfless and brave. B.Creative and helpful.
C.Ambitious and frank. D.Devoted and professional.

It was the first week of the summer vacation, and Parisa was already ready to be back at school. Not, everyone she knew liked school, but Parisa loved learning new things. Even more than that, she loved school because she got to be with her friends all day long. Parisa was an only child, and she thought it was too quiet at home.
Now her two best friends in the neighborhood were out of town for two weeks, and to Parisa, it seemed like two years. What would she do? Sitting on the wide front step of her house, she looked through her favorite kid magazine. The word “competition” caught her eye. “Create Your Own Magazine!” the headline read.
Parisa loved magazines, but it had never occurred to her that she could create one herself. The article said competitors must send in an eight-page magazine with handwritten articles and hand drawn pictures — nothing was printed by computer.
Parisa returned to her room and lay down on the floor next to her cat. This was what she did whenever she needed to think of really good ideas. She closed her eyes and imagined all sorts of magazines. She imagined magazines about bikes, skating, ballet, soccer, dessert… But after much thought, she knew what she wanted to feature (以……为特色) in her magazine — her neighborhood, for there were always interesting things. She would call it “The Tall pins Gazette (报纸)” and fill it with news.
She found a notebook and a pen and left her room. Then she found her grandmother at the door and told her about the competition. “Granny, I’m going to be a reporter for a while,” Parisa said. “I’m going to see if there’s any news.” Her grandmother smiled, “Well, good luck, honey. You do like asking questions, so I bet you won’t have too much trouble finding news.” Two hours later, Parisa ran into the house. “Granny, I’ve got so much news that I can’t fit it into eight pages!”

I am sorry to hear that you have been ill for days and hope you have got better now. You have been so absorbed in study that you have had no time for exercise. It is really harmful to your health. I feel it would be more beneficial to your health if you could take more exercise in the future.
In fact, exercise can contribute to your health and fresh your mind. Only when you have a strong body can you keep on studying without feeling bad or ill. Otherwise, your study will be interrupted from time to time by sickness.
In a word, exercise is as useful and important as your study. So I put forward a suggestion that you take at least one hour’s exercise every day from now on.
Best wishes.
Yours,
Li Hua

Days later, Parisa finished all stories that covered a lot of ground, with hand-drawn pictures added to each one. She couldn’t believe how fast the days had flown by because of her project. Parisa was filled with pride and excitement when she sent it off to enter the contest.
A few weeks later, Parisa received a package from the kids magazine. To Parisa’s surprise and delight, “The Tall pins Gazette” won first prize! The kids magazine had it printed and sent her some copies! She rushed to share them with her grandmother and her friends who had just resumed from their vacations. They congratulated her and told her her magazine was rally cool. Her neighbors were so impressed that they suggested Parisa keep her magazine going.
