本单元是最后一单元，目的在复习巩固初中学段的一些重要语法项目，同时让学生回顾初中三年美好时光及展望未来。Section A通过谈论初中三年的在校时光，让学生回顾加深对几种时态、句式及固定搭配的理解及运用；Section B转向对未来的展望，并加强听说读写训练。

1. Greetings

Greet students as usual and do the duty report.

2. Free talk.

Talk about their memories at junior high, and future dreams.

通过自由谈论简单回顾初中生活，并展望未来，给阅读做铺垫。

Learning new words

1. Learn new words one by one.

gentleman   

We can usually hear this at the beginning of a speech(Ladies and gentlemen). So it means 先生(学生回答). Good. It has another meaning:绅士. Ok, follow me.

graduation       

We have learned this word, graduate. It means:毕业. It is a verb. This word is a noun.

ceremony     

a graduation/wedding ceremony. Can you guess the meaning? Yes, 仪式，典礼

first of all     

As a student, first of all, you must study hard.

congratulate

I congratulate you on having passed the exam.  What do it mean?

congratulate sb. on sth./doing sth. 因...向某人祝贺

Please remember this important phrase.

thirsty

I’m thirsty now. Can I have a cup of water? Thanks. Thirsty means 口渴的。It has another meaning, for example,

The fields are thirsty for rain.  田地渴望雨水。

Be thirsty for... 渴望，渴求

thankful

thank means 谢谢 v

thankful means 感谢的，感激的，adjective

I am thankful to my parents for paying for my education.

Who can translate this sentence?  Correct.

be thankful to sb. for sth.因某事是而感谢某人

2. Word game to consolidate these new words.

Ok, everyone, let’s have a game in groups.

1. First, read together.

2. Show each picture, one student read it and say Chinese meaning quickly each time.

3. Show each picture with Chinese meaning, and say English.

2. Do more practice to master the new words.

Reading 

1. Fast reading 

Play the tape and ask students to answer the three questions.

Question1: What kind of text is this? Is it a story, a speech or a notice?

Question2: Who do you think wrote it?

Queston3:  Who is it for?

Possible answers:

It is a speech.

Maybe the headmaster wrote it.

It is for the students who will graduate soon.

2. Careful reading

Read sentence by sentence and learn some phrases.

1. thank you/thanks for doing sth. 因...而感谢

thanks to=because of   对亏，由于

2. be full of 充满 =be filled with
3. deal with 处理；应对=do with
4. talented  adj. 有才能的，有才干的

talent    n. 天资，天赋

5. be proud of =take pride in  为...而自豪/骄傲

Ask one student to read paragraph1 and other students try to find the wrong pronunciation.

听录音中整体感知本篇演讲文章，并回答三个问题。

Copy the five sentences on the exercise books.
