第二部分：课中重点

1. Every year it receives more than 750,000 visitors.

receive动词，意为“接待；接受；收到”，指客观上收到（信件、礼物等），不涉及收到者是否愿意接受。accept意为“接受”，指收到者经过考虑而愿意接受，通常指主观上的接受，常与表示邀请或建议的词连用。

如：她收到了一份礼物，但她没有接受。

She received a gift, but she didn’t accept.

2. They think the stones can prevent illness and keep people healthy. prevent作及物动词，意为“阻止；阻挠”，prevent sb. (from) doing sth. “阻止某人做某事” ，其中的from可以省略，但在被动语态中不能省略。

大雨可能使我们明天不能出门。

The heavy rain may prevent us from going out tomorrow.

同样的表达还有stop sb. (from) doing sth.和keep sb. from doing sth.。如：

We must do something to prevent the news (from) spreading.=We must do something to stop the news (from) spreading.=We must do something to keep the news from spreading.

3.The large stones were put together in a certain way.

in a certain way表示“以某种方式”，其中certain表示 “某一；某个；某些”的意思，用于名词之前。e.g. The doctor is only at this hospital on certain days.

那位医生只有在某些日子才在这所医院。

4. Not only… but also…意为 “不但…而且…”遵循一下三个原则

(a)并列连词，连接两个并列成分，其中also可以省略。

(b) 主谓一致原则：not only…but also..连接两个主语时，谓语动词在人称和数上要与but also 的主语保持一致。

(c) 倒装原则：not only…but also…连接两个并列分句时， not only 置于句首，表示强调，其引导的句子要用部分倒装，即将谓语动词的一部分(情态动词，助动词等)放在句子的前面，而but also后的句子用正常语序。

Not only he but also I am interested in pop music.

Not only do I feel good about helping people, but also I get to spend time doing what I love to do.
