The entire prcess tk just 18 hurs! The rf, drs and windws were lcally surced, and the walls were made f a cement mixture that can resist big envirnmental pressures in the area. Bugainvillea was 3D printed by 14 Trees, a cmpany with experience printing buildings thrughut Kenya and Malawi.
Maggie Gruts, the 22yearld funder f Thinking Huts, is a senir at the University f Clrad and was just 15 when she started Thinking Huts. Adpted frm a rural village when she was 18 mnths ld, Grut realized that nt all kids were as frtunate as her and wanted t help. The idea fr the 3Dprinted schls came t her after brainstrming with her father n ways t use the technlgy fr the greater gd.
The 3D printing apprach shrinks the cnstructin turnarund time frm mnths t days, as well as the cst. This allws mre schls t be built in less time and reduces the building's carbn ftprints. And these savings in time, cst and materials meet a real need fr educatin infrastructure (基础设施) t help bridge the glbal pprtunity gap.
“Thinking Huts hpes t have a Thinking Hut in every cmmunity where children d nt have a place fr educatin and is fundraising t develp this gal. By using 3D printing, we are cmbining the ptential f technlgy with architectural slutins that tackle real prblems the wrld faces within educatin,” says Gruts.
