Preparation before the period

Teachers’ preparations: A projector.

Students’ preparations: Students preview Grammar Focus-4c in Section A.

Teaching Procedures

Step 1 Lead in

Greet the students as usual.

Step 2 Presentation and Practice

  Explain the present perfect tense.

Work on Grammar focus. Tell students to read the sentences in Grammar Focus together and try to translate them into Chinese. Also, pay attention to the differences between the present perfect tense and simple past tense.

Then explain the differences about “how long, how soon, how often and how far”

现在完成时: 现在完成时表示从过去一直持续到现在的动作或状态，并可能还将持续下去。简称“延续用法”.

此用法需注意两点：

1）常与for, since引导的时间状语连用.

2）动词使用延续性动词。因为瞬间动词在肯定句、疑问句中不能和时间段连用.

since , for 的用法:

since: (自…以来)

1)since+时间点

He has stayed here since 5 o’clock.

2)since+ 时间段+ ago

He has stayed here since 5 hours ago

3)since+ 从句(句子要用一般过去时态）

She has taught English since he came here.

 for: （长达） for+ 时间段

He has kept the book for 2 weeks.

在现在完成时态中，for与since引导的时间状语可以相互转换。

since＋一段时间＋ago＝for＋时间段

 e.g. since two weeks ago=for two weeks;

I have kept the library book for a week.= I have kept the library book since a week ago.

 歌诀：含有for，since的现在完成时的用法歌诀: 过去的动作或状态，一直持续到现在，for、since把时间带.

用for和since填空。

在现在完成时中短暂性动词在肯定句、疑问句中不能与时间段连用。为了表述这种意思，我们常将短暂性动词转变成相应的延续性动词来代替非延续性动词，或变成：It is + 时间段 +since +一般过去时的句子.

常见非延续性动词和延续性动词的转变

      第一类：短暂动词            be + adj.

      die                            finish              

      open/close

      fall ill/asleep

      marry sb/get married to

      第二类：短暂动词              be + 介词.

      start/begin

      leave

      join

      第三类：短暂动词          另一个动词

      buy

      borrow

      become

      put on

Let the students make notes and present a form on the big screen and then let the students  try remembering the changes of the verbs .

Task 1 Test

         A: How long have you studied in this school?

B:  I ____ ______(study)in this school for 2 years. 

=I ____ ______(study)in this school ____2 years___. 

It is two years  ______ I studied English.

    Task 2 Let’s practice!

1. Turn to Activity 4a: Rewrite the sentences using for or since. Then let several students report their answers.

2. Turn to Activity 4b: Fill in the blanks with correct forms of the verbs in brackets. Then answer and check together.

Exercise 1

1. 他的爷爷已经去世2年了。
2. Nick 参军3年了.
3. 他离开深圳好长时间了。
4. 这本书我已借了4个月了.

Exercise 2

It is + 时间段 +since +一般过去时的句子

1. 他的爷爷已经去世2年了。

Step 4  Summary

I’ve had this bike for three years.

=I’ve had this bike since three years ago.

=It’s three years since I bought this bike.

=I bought this bike three years ago.

Step 5  Homework

(1)Learn the present perfect tense by heart.

(2) Recite the sentences in Grammar Focus.

(3) Preview the new words and Section B(1a-2d) on Page 77--79.
