Unit 3 Language in use 1
一、教学目标
1. 复习本模块的新单词和短语。
2.复习和巩固本模块的重要句型:

2. 掌握大数字的表达方式和冠词的用法。
难点:1. 掌握本单元的单词和重要句型。
2. 掌握大数字的表达方法和冠词的用法;能够就人口问题展开讨论。
三、教学准备
1. 多媒体设备和课件;
2. 设计课后巩固练习;
3. 教学图片。
四、教学过程
Step 1 Revision
1. Ask Ss to look at the sentences and fill in the blanks.
2. Check the answers together.
【设计意图】通过填写本模块重点句子,复习之前学过的知识并顺利引入今天所学的知识。
Step 2 Presentation
1. Ask Ss to read the sentences in language practice individually and then work in groups to talk about the grammar of large number and articles.
2. Ask Ss to summarize the rules of large number and articles.
3. T explains the grammar points.
(1) 用英语朗读数字时,要将每三位数看做一个单位,每个单位里的数字按照百、十、个位往后读,遵循百位以内数字的读法。
(2) 冠词分为不定冠词 a, an、定冠词 the和零冠词三种,零冠词指的是不用冠词的情况。
【设计意图】本活动通过学生熟悉的句子引出,教师引导学生观察句子总结语法,然后再进行讲解,可以帮助学生更深刻地理解知识点。
Step 3 Practice
1. Do some grammar exercises together.
2. Work on Activity 1.
(1) T asks Ss to match the countries with their populations.
(2) Ask Ss to share their answers and reasons in group.
3. Work in Activity 2.
(1) Ask some Ss to read their answers as the following sentence pattern:
China has a population of...
(2) T plays the recording and asks Ss to check their answers.
(3) T checks the answers as a class.
(4) Ask Ss to read the large number loudly.
【设计意图】本活动通过猜测每个国家的人口数量并听录音,操练学生对于大数字的读法。
4. Work on Activity 3.
(1) Introduce the methods of how to read a chart firstly.
T: When you see a table or a chart, look carefully at the labels and graphs to make sure that you understand what they are showing.
(2) Ask Ss to work in groups and answer the questions according to the chart.
(3) Ask Ss to share and discuss their answers in group.
(4) Check the answers as a class.
【设计意图】本活动要求读图表,回答问题,旨在操练大数字的读法。活动把学习数字与培养学生的观察和分析能力有机结合起来,使学生能在自然的语境中使用已学知识。
5. Work on Activity 4.
(1) T asks Ss to read the uncompleted paragraph and fill the blanks with a, an or the where necessary.
(2) Check the answers as a class.
【设计意图】本活动要求学生用冠词完成短文填空,这是冠词最基本的使用形式。
6. Work on Activity 5.
T: Boys and girls, after we practice the grammar, I will check your vocabulary. Please look at Activity 5.
(1) Ask Ss to read the words in the box individually.
(2) Ask Ss to complete the sentences with the correct form of the words in the box.
(3) Check the answers as a class.
【设计意图】本活动为词汇综合练习,要求学生根据语境用所给单词的正确形式填空,锻炼学生在语境中正确使用单词。
7. Work on Activity 6.
(1) Ask Ss to read the words in the box.
(2) Ask Ss to complete the diagram showing population problems with the words in the box.
(3) Ask Ss to share their answers with whole sentences.
(4) T checks the answers as a class.
【设计意图】本活动要求学生填写信息,完成图表,既复习了本模块出现的重点词汇,又培养了学生观察问题、分析问题以及解决问题的综合能力。
Step 4 Production
Let Ss do some exercises to consolidate what they have learned.
【设计意图】通过练习巩固本课所学知识,考查学生对知识的掌握程度。
Step 5 Summary
1. How to read the large number?
2. 冠词的用法:
(1) 不定冠词a / an 的用法;
(2) 定冠词the 的用法;
(3) 零冠词的用法。
