一、教学目标
1. 掌握词汇:
Vocabulary: general, standard, feeling, difficulty, subject, add, recently, menu, be in with a chance
2. 掌握句型:
(1) He’s the boy who won the photo competition last year!
(2) The one who took photos at the school dance?
3. 能够听懂并理解对话中who引导的定语从句。
4. 能够掌握句子中单词的连读。
5. 能够谈论一个人的比赛经历。
6. 通过摄影作品培养学生的审美意识和对他人的欣赏态度。

重点:1. 掌握general, standard, felling, difficulty, subject, add, recently, menu等词汇的用法。
2. 理解who引导的定语从句。
3. 掌握句子中单词的连读。
难点:who引导的定语从句和that引导的定语从句的区别。

Step Ⅰ Warm-up
Look and say.
T shows a photo of a band and talk about it with Ss.
—What can you see in the picture?
—What are they doing?
设计意图:展示乐队图片并讨论乐队成员的不同职责,调动学生积极思考表达,进而引入本节课的主题。
Step Ⅱ Pre-listening
Activity 1 and 2
T shows a picture and asks Ss to talk about it.
T asks Ss to listen to the recording of Activity 2 and complete the sentences.
T: What could you get from this picture? Share your ideas with your partners. And then listen to the recording and complete the sentences.
设计意图:通过简单的听力问答等活动,巩固所学词汇,熟悉相关话题, 为单元主体活动做铺垫。
Step ⅡI While-listening
Activity 3
1. T asks Ss to listen to the conversation and answer the following questions.
—What are they talking about?
—Who’s He Zhong?
2. T asks Ss to listen again and answer these questions in Activity 3.
3. T shows the right answers.

Language points
1. You bet! I want to beat He Zhong this year!
You bet! 意思是“你放心,当然,一定”。通常用于口语,不用在书面语。
2. He’s the boy who won the photo competition last year!
这句话是由who引导的定语从句,先行词是the boy,关系代词who在从属分句中做主语。
that和who都能引导定语从句,但两者有不同。
用that引导的定语从句,先行词可以是人也可以是物;
用who引导的定语从句先行词只能是人。
例子:
(1) The boy that / who wears a T-shirt is my brother.
先行词是the boy,关系代词既可以用that也可以用who。
(2) I’m looking for the photos that you took in Australia.
先行词是the photos,关系代词要用that。
3. The thing is, he’s really good.
the thing is 意思是“问题是,原因是”,常用于口语中,不用于书面语。
4. And the general standard of the competition is much higher this year.
(1) general是形容词,意思是“普遍的”,修饰standard。
拓展:in general意思是“通常,大体上;总的来说”。
(2) standard是名词,意思是“标准,水准”。
当standard用作复数standards时,可以表示:行为标准,道德水准。
5. What are the subjects that they have chosen for this year’s competition?
that they have chosen for this year’s competition是定语从句,先行词是subjects,关系词是that,关系词在从句中做宾语。
6. I’m sure you’re in with a chance!
(1) be in with a chance有可能;有机会
(2) be in with a chance of doing sth.有可能做某事
设计意图:听力活动、语言点讲解、问题回答和讨论环环相扣,逐步进行,帮助学生巩固所学知识。
Activity 4
1. T asks Ss to read these four words: add, difficulty, general and standard.
2. T asks Ss to underline those four words in the dialogue.
3. T asks Ss to complete Activity 4 individually, and then shows the right answers on the screen.
设计意图:让学生独立完成活动四,在教学过程中实时检验学生的听课效果。
Activity 5
1. T explains the pronunciation rule: liaison.
2. T plays the recording and lets Ss mark the words which the speaker links.
3. T asks Ss to read these sentences in Activity 5 in pairs. When Ss read those sentences, T should walk around the classroom and help Ss correct the inaccurate pronunciation.
4. T plays the recording again and lets Ss repeat.
设计意图:先让学生自己听录音并引导学生发现朗读特点,然后再讲解连读这一发音规则,更容易让学生接受新知识。
Activity 6
1. T asks Ss to do the Activity according to these directions:
S A: Choose a photo in this book and describe it to S B.
S B: Listen to S A’s description of the photo. Guess which photo he/she is describing.
A: There’s a basketball player who’s scoring a point.
B: Is it in Module 8?
2. T encourages several pairs to practice the dialogue in class.
设计意图:让学生在已学的单元中挑选图片,帮助学生练习用英语描述图片,同时让学生在练习过程中回顾前面几个单元所学的内容。
